Talking Basic things on how to use Groovy

to Groovy, here's a few things to help you get settled in :

Changing “Nickname”

Go to “Profile” then “Edit Profile”. Scroll down to where it says “Custom User Text” and type in whatever you want, then press “Submit Modifications” at the bottom of the screen.

Changing Avatar

Go to “Profile” then “Edit Options”. Scroll down to where it says “Avatar”. Click on “Change Avatar” which then takes you to the “Change Avatar” screen. Click “yes” where it asks “use custom avatar”, then click on the “browse” button alongside where it says “you can upload an avatar from your computer”. You then need to locate where on your hard drive you have saved your avatar and double click on it. The pathname will then appear in the box and you then press "“submit modifications".

Avatars must be no larger than 70x70 pixels, if you cannot resize your picture then please email it to a moderator who should be able to help you.

Email Notifications

Groovy is set by default to send you email notifications when you post something up. To get rid of this, and to stop you getting inundated with email, go to "Profile" then "Edit Options". Scroll down till you find where it says "Use 'Email Notification' by default?" and select "no" and then submit your modifications

Uploading Photos

To upload photos, you have to use the "Post Reply" button rather than the quick reply function which is active on most of the forums.

Under the "Additonal Options" heading under the main box that you type your replies in, your second option is "Attach files". If you click on "Manage Attachements", it will bring up another window. Click on the "browse" button where it says "Upload File from your Computer" and you need to find the photo that you have saved somewhere on your computer. There is a helpful guide for filesize and image size for the different file options, but I strongly recommend you stick to the "JPEG" file type. You may need some form of picture editing software which you should have on your PC, something like Microsoft Picture Editor, to make sure your picture is the right size.

Once you've got the picture the right size, after clicking "browse" find the picture on your PC and double click on it. The filepath will appear in the box, and you then click on "upload" where the picture will be linked to your post. You can do this up to five times for each post. If the file is the wrong size, it will tell you it cannot attach the file and the reason why, usually that the file is still too big.

Once you're happy you've got the photos you want, click on "close this window" and you will go back to your post. You can now click on "Submit Reply" and hey presto, your photos will be attached

Any problems or queries, please PM/email a Moddie! The Moderators are : J, Lady Rools, Bron, Taz and Nikki.
