Talking My wedding report v v long!

Well it really starts a couple of days before!! On the Wednesday night i went to Mums to try the dress on for the first time in two whole pieces instead of about 6!! Mum made sure i had a glass or 2 of wine first! and thank god it was perfect On the Thursday morning i had a lovely time helping my now MIL shop for shoes and a bag to go with her outfit, she even brought me a pair of trousers, note to self go shopping with helen more often!!! Then on Thurs afternoon we went to the venue to sort out arrangements with the local pub re bags etc for our first night, and check the cd player etc and see what my Mum and Aunty were going with the flowers. Wed both forgotten how stunning the venue is and were overwelmed when we saw the flowers as Mum and all her helpers had done an amazing job.. thus far, the end results were even better! Then Simon took me to Mums house and as i was putting the kettle on for a well needed brew my sister and her ex turned up from America, we let my sisters ex Chris know we wanted him to be an usher by giving him his pressie and telling him to read the card! he was over the moon. Finally Sue one of my bridesmaids came over and Mum and Dad got back from Sulgrave manor, so we all went down the pub for a meal and several bottles of wine! Chris and Sue both got Pissed well the rest of us were very merry!! A lot of laughter was had! we then went back to Mums had a few more drinks and went to bed where i tried to sleep!! I felt like a kid before christmas!!

The big day:- I awoke to rain! We had a leisurly cooked breakfast and lots of coffee and then at 10.30 Clair my other BM arrived, we sat around chatting and taking it in turns to use the bathroom!! I dont reccomend having 5 woman in a house with only one bathroom! Before i knew it i was putting on my bodice ready to go next door to have my hair done..Jackie did a wonderful job, people were commenting on my hair all day. I then went back home and we all started to do our make up etc, Chris and Lou (my sis) then left to do there ushering. I made the mistake of putting my false nails on before i did my make up!! But with the help of a sponge I managed ok! The bridesmaids then got dressed and helped me with my shoes and skirt< i ditched my Hold ups as one wasnt holding up 2 well!! Mum came in and did a final tweek, us girls went downstairs and the Bms had there buttonholes pinned on by ddad i picked up My boquet and we were off in Mums people carrier!
As it was still raining we were met by Chris with a large brolly! We had a few offical pics taken and then i had my meeting with Janet our registrar, as it was raining we decided to go the short way into the hall! The bridesmaids went in front and nearly got stuck as they tried to go through the door together!! My boquet nearly got stuck as well.
I then saw simon for the first time and spent half the ceremony trying not to cry he thought i was pissed off! as i apparantly had a funny look on my face, it was just me trying to keep under check! as we went on i got better and by the time i said my vows was fine. The ceremony was over before i knew it and i was finally Mrs G Everyone laughed at our choice of Quuens another one bites the dust to walk out to! As the rain had temporarly stopped we went out the other door into the garden for a few pics, we then made our way to the Buttery for welcome drinks and to meet our other guests, cheers and a round of applause went up as we walked in which was fantastic, several drinks and canapes later we made our way over to the reception hall for speeches and dinner, dad had got us some whizy ballons for the tables which went down a storm, all the speeches were well recieved , simon got the biggest laugh when he siad he knew i wanted to marry Claire when she told me i did! which was apt as i propsed to him!
The dinner was fantastic pig roast served with roasted summer veg and new pots followed by choclate tart with fresh berries and raspberry coulis, then cheese and bics , coffee and cake.
A few tables were then moved for dancing, the music man was great and played a good mix of old and new, a highlight of the night was Rob (the best man and Simons bro) singing Stevie Wonders For Once in My life to us. I spent most of the night on the dance floor dancing with either Simon or the bridesmaids! and before i knew it it was time to go.
The next day we went to Mums for lunch with a few people who couldnt come to the wedding and my two eldest boys, the house was filled with my wedding flowers which was fab. We then left to pick up my new car on the way to the groovy honeymoon cottage. the cottage is truely amazing you all have to go! Nicola B and her hubby had left a card for us which was fantastic, Thanks Nicola hun. We had a great week sight seeing and eating great food as my sister had given us £200 with the instructions that we had to spend it on luxieries on honeymoon!
Im now trying to write all the thank ypou letters and work out the best way to spend the vouchers!! Thanks for reading Love Mrs G

Forgot to say that when we got back here our cat had had kittens we knew she was preggers again but thought she might not have them here as shed been a bit odd and only came here to eat! The girl feeding the cats didnt realise as she fed them outside and didnt come in the house at all, simon saw Pepper the Mum and said she must have had them coz shes thinner! We were searching for them and heard a tiny meew, she had them in a cupboard under the stairs theres two tabbies like her and one really cute black one that i love but cant keep as we already have 3 cats!

I am glad that you had a fantastic wedding and that you enjoyed the Groovy Cottage! I am glad that Jennifer remembered to leave you the card too! I enjoyed the cottage so much that we have just booked another week there for our first wedding anniversary in October. We are staying in Mickle Rigg next time though - we thought that we would spread our favours around!

Congratultaions Mrs G!

Nicola
