Unhappy Things not looking good......

Billy's dad has been diagnosed with cancer of the bladder........he's going in today to get it burnt off.......he has an aneurysm and they are worried about the effect of the anaesthetic - all we can do is keep our fingers crossed for him......my stepdad is also getting weaker by the day, my mum is trying her best but it's hard for her.

Any ideas as to how to cheer up Billy, his mum or my mum?

So sorry to hear this hun!

I am afraid to say it, but there is no way you can cheer up any of your loved ones. It is an impossible task. All you can do is be there for them in their time of need and be strong. Look after yourself and look after them if needs be, but they each have to deal with their pain in their own way and in their own time.

You will only find yourself drained to nothing if you try to rescue them from this - believe me I have been there!

Big hugs

Jessx

Thanks girls. Billy's dad's op went well - he looked great when we went to visit - he's starting a course of chemo but they were able to get it all out - he was supposed to get an epidural because of his aneurysm but when they x-rayed him and did some tests they found he had something called spina bifida occulta which means that his spine has fused together so they didn't want to risk it - apparently he's had it from birth but just didn't know about it!

Anyway, I'm going to spend the day with my mum and stepdad tomorrow so I'll just do what I can whilst I'm there and try not to tire them or me out!

Thanks for your support girls - it means a lot!

Alli,

I'm late as usual, but just to say that at times like this all you can do is to be there for people. It's going to be hard for you but from personal experience I can say that soemone just 'being there' makes all the difference and Billy will really appreciate your support.

I had a fairly nasty cancer treatment (not serious enough for chemo but serious enough for surgery) about 3 weeks before Steve and I got married and he really was a rock for me.

Wishing you all my love and prayers.
