Default New rings?

I just want to know if anyone has had new rings. Engagement and wedding rings. I seem to have become allergic to my rings. It itches so badly. I was thinking of platinum rings. I'm trying to convince DH as I feel strange not wearing rings but it hurts to wear my gold rings. Any advice? It's a lot of money.

My sis has eczema and had the exact same problem wearing yellow gold/white gold. Platinum seems fine tho.

Her creases of her fingers where her old engagement ring sat used to crack and bleed and she had no choice but not to wear them

So I sympathise with you honey, it really is painful and itchy at the same time!

I think KarenE had a similar problem with white gold and had to go for platinum instead.

I'm sure there was also someone who's wedding ring was stolen on honeymoon, J springs to mind for some reason but it's just a guess.

Could you get your current rings plated/coated instead to make it a bit cheaper?

As they mean so much and it is something you wear all the time I would say it is worth the cost to replace them. We spent a fair bit on our rings which are titanium but Terry convinced me it was worth it for something that is so special and will last for so long.

I know someone who is allergic to gold and only wears silver so it is a common problem.

Yeah, Laurie's right, I'd bought K a white gold engagement ring and had to change it 6 months down the line to platinum as it turns out K is allergic to gold and white gold rings don't retain the coating as long as they used to (K wears another family ring which is white gold but quite old and has no problems with it as the coating is solid). I also got my ring stolen at a works do by a thief who came into our room, got a straight replacement paid for by the hotel we were in.

If they're causing you grief, you'll have to bite the bullet and get them changed I think.

We did get the diamond changed over from the original ring so it's still part of the same ring J proposed with...

I really couldn't have worn the original one - it was too sore. I keep meaning to have the original white gold mount made into something I can wear on a chain - which should be easier for me to wear over clothing etc

Yes I think we will have to get my rings plated with platinum for now as if I'm gonna have new rings I will wont decent ones. We didn't spend loads on the ones I have and we were always going to replace the diamond for a larger one in years to come. But before new rings we need to convert the loft for husbands office so when we have another baby we have the room. So will have to wait for a while. Its not a problem waiting, its just ashame that I can't currently wear my rings. I love them so much they are part of me, but just an itchy part at the moment.

I sometimes get that on my rings too, but take them off for a day or two or wear them on the other hand. If you get the same stone in the new ring then its the same I got my diamond reset before the wedding and didnt feel bad about it in the slighest!

i had that same problem with my ring. it became very painful to wear it. i just persevered (sp) with it and after a couple of months it calmed down. it was because soap from when i washed my hands was getting under the ring and causing irritation. i put talc on my hands after washing them and i've not had a problem with them since. i dont know if this is any help or not but i thought i'd let you know what can happen

My husband lost his wedding ring on our honeymoon. We were diving in the Maldives and came back to the room after spending the day diving and he noticed he didn't have it any more. Its probably lying at the bottom of the Indian Ocean somewhere.

When we came home we were able to claim on the travel insurance to get another one for him.
