Default SM's - any advice for B2bs?

Hello smuggies!

Just wondered if you can offer any advice to those of us with pending weddings.

What were the highs and lows etc. What would you do differently.

Anything... we await your wise words..

You have heard many "wise" words (could be debated!!) from me over the last month or so, but if you want any more advice just ask and I'll see if I can help! Just call me Yoda (no, actually don't! Please!)

I'm sure Dawnie and Em and Dawn (when she's back) would help too!

So ask away!!!

Lo xx

PS: I LOVE all this wedding talk, hubby thinks I should marry my PC instead!!

Ooh, lordy (Dawnie puffs herself up to look important!)

The only things I can say are:

In the lead up to the wedding make sure you delegate tasks to people. I'm a complete control freak and it was really hard for me to delegate tasks such as picking up the dresses from the shop etc etc. You'll have enough to concentrate on. Make a list of all the things that need doing in the 3 day run up to the wedding and ask people if they would be willing to do them.

On the day take your time - i'll never forgive myself for sprinting down the aisle at the speed of light like a desperate woman. I walked in and a load of heads turned in my direction and a load of cameras went off at the same time and I felt like I was going to cry so I sprinted down the aisle. Wish i'd got myself a bit more together and enjoyed looking round the church more.

Make sure you look at everything and take in as much as possible.

Most of all, enjoy yourself.

Worldly wisdom ends here

Dawn

I'm a control freak too Dawnie!!
I didn't delegate, I did it all myself! That way I knew it was done!!

The day b4 I left Mark to organise his suits, while I took all the stuff to the hotel. There was a wedding on and one of the drivers asked if I was helping a friend, and almost fell over when I told him I was the bride!!! He said I shouldn't be rushing around like that!

Too be honest, I wouldn't change anything. I did delegate some jobs (like collecting disposable camera's etc for the day), but I knew what had to be done and when and found it easier to have Mark chauffer me about while I got on with it! :teehee:

I absolutely agree with what Dawnie said about taking it all in. I took "snapshots" of the day in my mind, like seeing myself all dressed for the 1st time, my mum, my brother, the 2 14 year lads on the way to the church shouting "Good Luck" (ahhhhh) seeing Mark waiting for me etc etc.

HTH

I didn't delegate anything either - and if I had to do it all again, I still probably wouldn't delegate. On the day itself I was calm personified - so if possible I would reccommend you don't stress out - I figured by this point there is nothing more you can do - so you may as well go with the flow and enjoy it.

I have to agree with the others about taking it all in - I don't think I did really - which is why I'm so glad that we had a video done - watching it was fantastic, as I had missed most of what was going on.

Try and spend as much time with you hubby as possible - the day flies by, and you don't want to get to the end of it and realise you haven't spent any time together except for the formal stuff.

Just enjoy yourselves - it really is teh best day ever.
