Laurie!!
Can I start a new thread to ask you have you any ideas what Al's parents views are on divorce and remarrying? I really feel for you that they don't know yet as I know one of my main worries when I started seeing Brian was what would his mum think about my history. As it was she was fine but then she had been divorced and remarried herself - Brians dad went off and married someone else while he was still married to her

In truth I think they'll be fine about it once they've got used to it. They will be a little shocked perhaps, and apprehensive for their son, but I hope they can see what a good couple we make.
Al didn't want them to pre-judge me before even getting to know me, in case they didn't give me that chance. Plus they have a friend who has been married three times and they have been known to make jokes about it.
I think I'm going to have to tackle this myself seeing as Al keeps chickening out, but then I think he makes it into something much bigger himself anyway. My plan is now for us to go around with the marriage notices to fill in with the parents details (which we need to get sent off soon) and take my divorce certificate along too as part of the pack. Keep it low-key I guess and then react to whatever questions arise.
Wish me luck!!

At the end of the day, its your past (the good as well as the bad things) that makes you the person that you are today. I hope it all goes well.

Nope, we had to send the marriage notices off before we got chance to take them round there. Another fine plan scuppered
Al went round there on Monday to tell them but bottled it so he phoned them today to see if they're in tonight as there's something he'd like to talk to them about
