Question Need advice C of E wedding

We had our first banns call today at both of our parishes. We marry just under 3 weeks time now. I guess I feel as though I've forgotten somthing, h2b will have a banns cert for the wedding day and even tho h2b wasn't born in this country he is British Cit. Will we need to get anything else or do anything to ensure a smooth run. Do we need a licence? Is it too late to get one? Or does the curch do this. I have tried getting this info out of the church but the guy is not very forthcoming.

Please help I'm getting a little stressed.

C of E weddings are legal as the vicar is actually leagally authorised to perform the ceremony and the legal requirements of marriage. It is only for civil ceremonies and other religions (liek Catholic for example) where the "legal" element has to be applied for seperately.

You don't need a license, the banns and the vicar covers all this. Are you marrying in one of the parishes where the banns are being called? If you are, you'll need to get the other banns certificate to the vicar ASAP when you get it, if you're marrying in another parish completely, I guess the vicar will need both of the banns certificates.

If you're worried at all, I'd suggest arranging a short meeting with your vicar to put your mind at rest.

good luck,
Jon x
