Default Arrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhh! (photographer)

I am absolutely furious. I practically have steam coming out of my ears. The photographer who was meant to be doing our wedding is apparently on holiday in Spain that day. We weren't even actually getting the main photographer from the company on that day as he was already booked but we still liked the other guy's work. It seems that we're getting someone else who we've never met, whose photos we've probably never seen and its three bloody weeks to go!!!!!

I was supposed to get a call back with apologies and explanations half an hour ago. And have I? Like hell I have I think I'm going to sit in the loo and cry.

Good God Angela - how totally unprofessional.

Phone them, rant, threaten to call Watchdog - do whatever you feel like doing - these people have acted appaulingly

I think Bee's right. Firstly you expect a good discount. Secondly, you expect to see a portfolio of this chaps work and you expect him to contact you and make the effort to see you before your wedding.

Goodness knows you don't need this now, but stay calm.

Thanks Bee and Dawnie!!!

Well, it turns out that it is his brother who is apparently very competent, years of experience blah blah blah. He seems to feel that it is nothing to get upset over and they've done it as a kindness. Anyway, this is the bloke's website: http://www.markburns.mainpage.net/ I'm not overly impressed at all (apologies if anyone from Manchester has booked him!).

So... I've made an appointment to see another photographer in Bristol on Saturday (was supposed to be going down to pick up my dress and have a nice quiet day!). What do you guys think of his photos? (galleries are on the wedding link): http://www.maxwellphotos.com/ He does look a bit nerdy in the photo of himself on the front but we had a long chat and he seems ok.... Much cheaper too.

And no Bee.... they didn't call me. I had to call them after waiting for half an hour. He couldn't have cared less that I was upset!!!

The worst thing is that Dave's in Ireland just now so I have noone around to cry on

Hi Angela

What a horrible afternoon you've had, I hope you have had chance to talk to h2b! Get yourself a glass of wine and chill out

I have to say I prefer the look of the 2nd guy, his site is a lot more professional for a start, and he makes an effort to get dressed up for your day too. My photographer was lovely and "blended in" with my guests, I really only saw him when he was doing posed/group shots.

Hope things get sorted out quickly and effortlessly for you,

Lo xxx

How unproffesional!!!!

I hope you manage to get things sorted............ not exactly the best of ways to spend the last few weeks before your wedding, finding a new photographer!!

Keep us posted on how things go!!

Good Luck!

Aw Angela, how horrid

I think the guy you are going to see on Sat looks nice. Some really nice pics in his collection. I take it, if he is free and you like him you'll book him and cancel the other lot? Would you loose much money if you did that?

We'd only lose £180 (although, if I scream loudly enough I'd expect it to be refunded) if we booked this other photographer. I'm still calling around photographers to see if I can get two alternatives.

The only odd thing I'm encountering is that some photographers want to be paid in full 2 weeks before the wedding. Is this normal?

Fraid so. We have to pay our photographer next week, 2 weeks before as well. We have to pay all of our suppliers 2 weeks before, apart from the magician who we can pay on the day.

Erk. How scary!!! How do you know they're going to turn up if they have all the money?

We're off to see another photographer on Saturday morning: http://www.rookphoto.co.uk/wedding_photography.htm Much more expensive but I really, really love her photos and her attitude.

So... whtever happens we won't get stuck with a photographer who we can't trust! Hurrah!!!!

Well, good luck with everything here - it sounds a very odd do to me.

Our photographer wanted 50% before the day and the rest after, if that's helpful........

Thanks everyone! We went to see Pauline Rook on Saturday (http://www.rookphoto.co.uk/wedding_photography.htm) and we both absolutely loved her and her work So we booked her on the spot! We spent well over an hour discussing exactly what shots we wanted and what sort of albumn design too (going for a soft gold silk cover with black pages). She's going to arrive early on the day of the wedding and wander around the venue picking out nice spots for informal poses

So glad you got a photographer you love - kind of happened like that with me too... the guy I'd tried to book (didn't provide references so I wouldn't pay deposit) pulled out and soon after I found a great female photographer - luckily for us she'd had a cancellation, and I think she's going to be fab.
Anyway, these irritating things happen for good reasons...

Why do people do things like that. Glad things are looking better though,
