Default I'm gonna cry or kill someone!

The kilt hire was meant to be collected last nght. H2B and his bro went there at 7pm (20min drive) to be told the order wasnt ready and they would call us when it was...an hour or two. Okay we can deal with that.
He rings back at 10.30pm last night...really sorry but we haven't got all the stuff...sporrans, bow ties and dirks are missing!!! They only have 3 out of 8 hires complete. I went nuts! They guy promised he would bring out what he had in 3/4 of an hour. I waited up til 12.30am and he still hadn't arrived. I couldnt sleep last night and I am a complete wreck. I'm now worried we won't have it all by tomorrow!!
Apparently new people took over the running of the kilt hire 2 weeks ago, which I didn't know about.
I am ringing them first thing today. They promised faithfully to get the kilts to me......they didn't appear and no phone call. We have spent hundreds of pounds hiring 8 outfits.
I will be demanding they sort it and sort it while I wait. This has been on order for a year and they have had most of the measurements for that time as well.....so why the hell are they running about NOW a day before the wedding trying to sort it!!!!
I will be demanding a refund as well..the hire should have been from Thurs to Mon, now we're a day behind. If you take them back late they charge you per day!
I just want it all to be right.......I feel sick and I'm so worried. We can't get other kilts as this late stage or I would cancel and go elsewhere!
I've had 2 hours sleep and have lots to do today and the rest of H2B's relatives arriving!
Tell me it will be okay.

Laura

Noooo!!! Why is using someone else not an option? Do you have wedding insurance? Surely you could claim for any extra expense caused by getting stuff elsewhere through that? Even if you don't have wedding insurance, I'd be screaming compensation at them. That way they'd cover getting kilts from elsewhere?!? Tell them you're on lots of wedding forums on the internet, and you'll tell everyone who they are. Also threaten BBC's Watchdog (as someone on here suggested for something), the local paper, anything to get them to be more helpful!

Have you tried phoning round other places and giving them a sob story? Crying over the phone to people usually works wonders! (even works on my bank manager!!)

Moss Bros hire kilts and they tend to be helpful and have a lot of stock in. They also have branches everywhere.

Also, can you get someone like a relative to run around and sort out this mess? Delegate!! Or at least get someone to help, so you're not alone in panicking about this!

Hugs...

Who else was it that had a real problem with their suits up til the very last minute? Was it J? Anyway, that ended up alright in the end.........

I've got everything crossed for you and I'm convinced it'll all be okay - I can feel it in my water!

Yes, it was me N. I had to pick up 2 of the waistcoats on the morning of the wedding, K says she has never heard me so nasty and "sweary" as I was when the problem with Moss Bros came to light the day before the wedding . It did indeed all come right in the end, these hire places know how important it is to us that everything is right on the day and I'm sure your hire place will be pulling out every stop in the book to make it happen. I'm sure Moss Bros lost money on our hire with what they must have spent on courier delivery to get us the waistcoats, but did I care? NO!

Oh Laura, poor you. I really hope you manage to get this sorted out and have the most fabbie day.

Like everyone else has said, I'm sure it will be alright in the end. I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you anyway.

Might be worth seeing if you can claim through any insurance you have make their lives hell until its sorted out.

Thinking of you .

The chap arrived at my door at 8.15am with ALL the kilts. Only thing is no bow ties but they are on thier way to us!!! H2B's brother's kilt is 2" too short as were the sleeves...and the little ones was too short in the arm as well. They are being altered as we speak. Haven't tried my lads ones on them yet but shop assured me they will get them altered if they need it even if its 10pm tonight. I am very unimpressed and told the chap in no uncertain terms..he only apologised but I was so relived to see the kilts I didint demand a refund but I will be writing a letter of complaint later!
To cap it all....I did my legs this morning with a silky mit (used them loads of times before) and my legs are now all red and patchy and itchy!!!!!! Got calamine lotion on them as we speak
Its all gone wrong hasnt it?
Oh well.......going out again now to get the boys from school and for a haircut! Then back for a sandwich before the rehersal!!
Its manic but i cant wait to get my dress on!!!!

At least it sounds like things ar ecoming together! Hoorah!

I'm worried I wont be my usual demanding self if things go better after a disaster, and perhaps after the wedding a stinky letter (or THE VAN) would be in order!

Good luck lass!

Oh hunny..... not the relaxed last few days & hours you had hoped for!

I really do hope that as I'm typing this an air of calm has descended on the house, all the outfits are correct & ready to be worn PLUS your legs are silky smooth, perfect colour & not itching!!

I can't wait to hear how perfect the day is/was & to see the pictures!
