I'm not even gonna attempt to post a pic of the dress I tried on, but here's a link:
http://www.peachesweddings.co.uk/dresses.htm
It's the one on the top left, Alison bodice and Joanne skirt.
I found a dress hire shop too! It hires dresses out for approximately just under half what you'd pay for it new. So I'm now thinking, if I bought it brand new, and sold it for half price, it wouldn't really cost me any more (as long as someone bought it!). Anyone think this is a good idea? I'd much prefer to "own" my dress if possible on the day at least. I'm looking for it second-hand. I now know I'm a size 14 for that dress, but hopefully with some more dieting, exercise and effort I could perhaps get into a 12 by the time of the wedding (well I've got a year!!). I did try a 12 on so I know how tight the bodice was, and the shirt didn't do up completely at the back.
The other thing I'm looking to do is buy it secondhand. Hopefully it'll be a popular dress this year so lots of people will be selling it!?! But as I'm 5'10 I'll need a virtually unaltered dress in the length, which is hard to find!
So do I hire or buy??
Also yesterday H2B met his future in-laws for the first ever time. My parents are very strict Christian and didn't want to be seen to "condone" the relationship when we were going out. But now we're getting married, and that I don't go to church that often (and when I do H2B comes too) they have agreed to be sociable. H2B was petrified - my dad has refused to even speak to him before now! But everything went fine. Most of it we were laughing for - my parents are quite sarcastic. My mum cooked this lemon meringue pie, and when she put it on the table it wobbled. My dad was saying it's not set, and she said it was! Well she cut me a slice and there was all this liquid underneath it! Most strange!! My mum asked me if I wanted some juice with my slice! I politely declined.

Then my dad had some and said "I don't want any of the - fluid"!!! My started complaing he was making it sound medical and proved that it tasted ok by tasting the liquid herself! I then decided to wait a few minutes to see if she collapsed or anything before I ate my bit! Anyway we were all in hysterics by the end of the afternoon, H2B included. I don't think that was quite what H2B expected at all!
So that's one huge sigh of relief that that's out of the way anyway! Now the next hurdle is for my parents to meet H2B's parents. I asked H2B if he thinks my and his aprents will have ANYTHING in common to talk about? Then I said they both have dogs (well H2B's parents had a much loved family dog - and lots of stories about her) and my parents still have our aged walking furball. Then H2B says "and both sets of parents have kids too".
So yep, that'll be an interesting meeting!
