Default Ooh I have a wedding question

Hello girls

I've had a mssive break from all things wedding since buying the house and any planning or saving totally went on hold so we could afford things like a sofa and washing machine and new shoes (a girl needs her essentials) but since being to my close cousins wedding on saturday I am now back in the mood and we are in the process of getting all wedding'd up again. Having a break has done me good actually as I know the things I REALLY want now and have decided whats important and whats not.
I know I want a Marquee and all my family there, Jack knows he wants a really cool bar and me there. (he used to be a flair bartender in Ronnie Scotts so bear with him)

Anyways, all that said my question is of course about timings. When you book things e.g. the marquee or caterers do you normally pay a deposit? Or pay at the end? How much is the deposit normally..same with florists etc..when do you pay them?

Also does anyone in the Midlands know where I could put a marquee for two days for next to free? I do have one offer but would love to know if anyone owns a field near me I could use, by a river perhaps? Does anyones parents own a farmhouse with a bit of field next to it?

Not much to ask I know...Claire..I'll be asking you about the bar honey so expect a PM soon. x

Oh, and yes, you'll all be invited, so my house won't get groovy torched, you'll probably have about ten kids a piece by then or all be up the duff and I'll have to get wide doors put in the marquee especially and large tables and have towels and hot water on stand by.

Havnt a clue but I have to say I now think Jack is exceedingly cool. I love Ronnie Scotts and sometimes go and see friends play there (don't tell him though cos he'll get vain...Jack not Ronnie cos of course he's dead)

ROOLEY!

hello honey! its been a while!!!

with regard to timings, when you book anything (photographer, florist, caterers, marquee hire, suit hire, dress purchase, band, DJ etc) you will have to pay a deposit to secure the service and when you first start planning thats awfully expensive cos theres so many things to pay out at once. for things like flowers its usually about £50 or some such amount and then for dresses etc it'll be 10% of the total price.

hope that helps!!

V xx

PS, i haven't got any land knocking about either!!!
PPS will deffo be there (with bells on)!!!!!!!!!

Sorry haven't a clue about any land. We thought of having a marquee too and have found lots of hotels that will do it but it is sooooo expensive. Finding someone with a handy field sounds like a great idea. Have you thought about asking around at local farms or we have little villages round here that have a green so might let you use that if you have anything similar.

We are just starting to book things now and you do have to pay a deposit for most stuff. So far its only been smallish amounts.
