Default Calling all disco divas...

Hi there

We're now looking into DJs/discos for our wedding reception and have received just two quotes - one at a whopping £285, and another at £130. What's normal? Is £130 too cheap? Is £285 too much? :confused: What do you think's reasonable? (We don't want to be ripped off!)

I guess it depends on where you are, ours was either £130 or £160, i cant actually remember now, but things seem a lot cheaper up here in Scotland, having read some of the posts on here.

I think that mine was £150, but I am not too sure. It was part of the hotel and reception bill.

My MIL runs a DJ agency, and the price really depends on the location and duration required.

I think they charge an average price of £225 for a wedding reception which normally runs from 7pm to 11.30pm (exc set up and pack away time).

My BIL also has his own decks and charges a bit less as he books his own gigs. I think his average price is £175.

HTH,

I think mine was about £150 for 7.30 until 1am but that was in Southampton.

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.

Cheers everyone - I think I'll set a maximum at £150. We don't have many special requests - just plenty of cheesey danciable music!!

We've got quotes for £150 to £300. I think we are going to go for the one that the hotel provides which is about £150. We are on the south coast though and the hotel is near Chichester.

Wow, looks like we paid a bit too much for ours. We paid 445 (Kent) which was 7:30pm until 12:00pm.
They were brilliant though, very professional and excellent service, so I dont regret it
