No it's not what you are all thinking. I mean should I fake tan before the wedding or not?
I have heard that if you have a fake tan done and are wearing ivory (which I am) it can look a tad orange. The thing is that I don't want to look like a big white blob on the beach just a few days later.
Also has any one had a bikini wax done? Does it really hurt as much I think it would? I don't want to have to worry about that as well. I ordered a bikini from the internet yesterday, which was very exciting as I have never worn one before I just don't want to look awful in it.
Any thoughts ? Cheers Jess.
P.S. I have just noticed that I have a star!Yeh!
ohh i was going to get a fake tan before my wedding also - and i want to wear Ivory...
I have had a B Wax before and it does sting but it is okay if you take deep breaths tee hee it is worth it though i think.. what about underarms now i imagine that would hurt....
I had my underarms done and it was a bit of a waste of time as it didn't work very well.
It does hurt but is worth it as notyhing else lasts very long...although I did use immac mouse and that worked quite well - easier than creams...
(sorry bit peresonal now, hope J isn't here!! )

Jess, I've just read your surname post and noticed you've only 8 weeks to go - if I were you, I'd go and get my bikini line done now then you can go again the week before the wedding and it won't be your first time. That way you know what to expect and also you can adjust your hair line according to what they do the first time - i.e. have more off or less or go the whole hog!!! whatever...
I really must get into the habit of having mine done again, much more convenient!!

Hmmm... tricky to decide what to do about the tan. What did you think about the way the dress looked with your natural skin tone? Is there any way you could have a treatment now and see what you think?
Regarding the bikini wax - I've heard some people say that it was awful, and others say it was bearable. I've never had it done (I tidy the edges up with an epilator, which stings a bit!) but I agree with Roz - do it now, or risk walking along the soft, sandy beaches like John Wayne!
From personal experience fake tan looks absolutely great as long as you don't have it done/do it yourself too often.
When I was using my own products i'd bought I used them too often and ended up well and truly tango'd!!!
However, about two weeks before our wedding went to Clarins and they did a complete top to toe and then made me a follow-up appointment for two days before the wedding. Really worked. Looked a nice 'light tan' on the wedding day. Not a trace of orange at all.
Well worth a go. Why don't you have it done pre-wedding and make an appointment for a couple of days after to try your dress on again. Judge the 'orange factor' for yourself????
A word of advice though - don't do this too many times as the fake tan does have a tendency to rub off a little bit and might mark your dress.
Have heard that St Tropez is also very good, but haven't tried it.
Thought i'd also add to the general consensus re waxing too (not much work to do today).
I have everything waxed (well, maybe not quite everything )
I have legs, underarms, bikini line and eyebrows done and the first time nearly put me off for life but the second time was much better and these days it's almost (ALMOST) pain free!!!
Again, agreeing with replies already posted, PLEASE do not have it done for the first time just before your wedding as you have no idea how your skin will look post waxing.
The first time I had mine done, I ended up with pink 'angry' looking skin for a couple of days.
Well....as we're all getting personal here I thought I'd add a bit.....
Waxing is fine, its just a bit of a shock to the system but its not major but one piece of advice DONT do it a few days around your period as apparently you are much more sensitive then......so bear that in mind!
As we're on the subject of waxing......anyone had a Brazilian?? ALA Sex in the City?! I did and I thought I'd recommend it! Could be a nice surprise for the wedding night?? I did it for an extra Christmas 'pressie' and he was a happy chap!! Me too!!!
Do you have another chance to try on the dress before the wedding to see if you think the tan looks orange looking?
I must admit I am a St.Tropez fan myself. I apply it myself too. I'm defo going to get it done in a salon before the wedding though as a treat. It doesn't look orange at all, although I would get a trial run done defo just to make sure it looks good on your skintone.
Re waxing - I was thinking of getting that done too as haven't braved it yet, although could not bear the thought of a brazillian - ouch Sarah!!
How much does it cost to have St Tropez applied at a salon? I was thinking of treating myself nearer the time because everyone has said i look much nicer with a tan.
Thanks,
Beeny

Not actually got it done in a salon before and all depends on where you live. Its normally between £30 to £50, although having just seen that you are from Cheshire I'm sure you could scrub the £50 and it will probably be between £30 to £40!! £50 - that's just for me in London, unfortunately!
My aunt got married on Sunday and had it done and she looked lovely, not orange at all. Make sure you get the cream though and not the mousse as the cream is longer lasting!
Thought I would add my two cents on the waxing issue... Regarding having it done around your period , there is also a risk of brusing... ask about the amount of experience/practice your technition has had. You don't want to arrive on your wedding night with brusing about yuor newly exposed skin , also remeber when you do get to the beach to pay special attention withthe sun block, not a good place to burn.
I have gone to the same asian woman for about 4 years, every 5 weeks. and she is amazing. I breath out when she pulls and I hardly feel it at all. (I know you think I am boasting but really it's true.)
as far as tanning goes, I'll be ruing my skin in a tanning bed as all self tanners look orange on me.

Quick question re fake tan - will it run onto the dress? I am a bit of a milk bottle and don't want to look ill in my ivory dress so wanted to get the Clarins or San Tropez tan done professionally, but I'm worried it will mark the dress (I am keeping it on all day and night so I may get a bit, erm, glowing / dewy if you know what I mean, especially in the disco. Will it run?
I did it!! I had my bikini wax done on friday afternoon, following your advice. And all I can say is "what was all the fuss about?"
It' hardly hurt at all, may be it's coz I went to the dentist to have a tooth crowned on monday so this was nothing.
On the original topic of this thread, I have decided not to fake it. For two reasons firstly as the wedding is only 7 weeks away so no body at the wedding will have a tan, particularly Adrian so I don't want I don't want to look orange compared to him in the photos. And secondly because it is still effectively spring so to have a tan of any sort will look a tad done.
Thank you all for your advice. Who knows next time I might try a 'Brazilian' bikini wax if I am feeling brave.
