i haven't a clue either....
currently arguing with H2B about what song to have our first dance to, i want "as the world falls down" by David Bowie from the labyrinth soundtrack (one of the best film soundtracks ever!!!) so the music used in the ceromony is something else altogether!

I'm thinking of Nina Simones 'Its a new day, its a new dawn, its a new life for me and I'm feeling good......'
Know it? I just love the words

Currently we've planned for the Austin Powers theme, but we have to get approval do that first. Or theres the Imperial March from Star Wars. Personally, if your looking for something a little different, I would definately check out some film soundtracks.

We're in a church so choice is limited but my ideal "funny" would be the theme from "Bod"

I'm going with Nina Simone too (or the Muse version! )
I couldn't have pachabel as it's far too reminiscent of my scratchy days in string quartets and viola section rehearsals from my Youth orchestra days!! It's been spoilt for me, that and Les Miserables...

Sorry, but I'm being boring and traditional, and having
Here comes the Bride.
We are also getting married in a church, so it's a bit more difficult.
If I wasn't getting married in a church, I would either have
Can you feel the Love tonight (from the Lion King) or I Feel Good by James Brown.

Having Canon in D too! Just love it! And then having Good Day Sunshine by the Beatles to walk out to! Should hit the right note I think!
Not sure what to have while we are signing the register tho. The woman at the venue said it takes about 6 minutes, so we need something that long to go there, or two shorter pieces. HELP!

I'm either going for Canon in D by Pachabel - like just about everyone else. Or I might go for Merry Xmas Mr Lawrence by Ruiychi Sakamoto - just trying to find out whether the string quartet can play it or not.

If anyone's stuck for a piece of music for registry signing, I would heartily recomment Massenet's Meditation from Thais, it's the most beautiful piece of music ever, and makes me cry, it's bascially a violin solo, I'm sure it's been used for adverts so if I remember I'll let you know!!

We are having Songbird by Fleetwood Mac (although Eva Cassidy covered it too)
It's so beautiful and the words are really apt, sorry going have to quote a little bit!!!
For you there'll be no more crying
For you the sun will be shining
'cause I feel that when I'm with you it's alright, I know it's right
And the Songbirds are singing like they know the score
And I love you I love you I love you like never before
Also At Last by Etta James is lovely too!

So seeing as several people are having trios and quartets, can anyone recommend one for Sussex/Kent borders. We are trying to book one now. Any how much did they charge. We have a range of £350 to £700 so far for 3 hours.
thanks

ROZ! I absolutely LOVE that piece of music too!! I used to sing in a choir and my friends daughter played it in a concert.... totally amazing!
I can understand why you wouldn't choose Pachabel, I have a long list of songs that I can't listen to any more as they remind me of the awful "School Orchestra Playing"
I fell in love with Pachabel though when it used to be the theme music to "The Visit" on BBC1, not that I even knew it was a piece of classical music at the time! LoL

Oh yeah, I forgot to say I'm trying to find a "Different" version of it if possible!!
I've got the sheet music for it for Clarinet & Piano but I don't think there are any recordings of it apart from the normal string ones!
