Have any of you been to wedding fayre's before? If so what did you think?

Love Karen xx

We were going to go to the Yorkshire Wedding Fayre at Harrogate last year and Brians niece who is a bridesmaid came from Notts so she could come with us. We all slept in and because it was a pay to go in one we decided not to bother going as we'd have got there quite late on in the day. We went out for dinner instead and as we were sat eating noticed the Hilton across the road had a wedding fayre on so went in there and it was a brilliant one full of local suppliers.

I think wedding fayres are hit and miss. Some I've been to are a waste of time but others really good. If you can get to one at your venue though I think that's excellent.

Hope you have a great day Karen and find some useful info! We went to a few this time last year and some were great but some were naff. Just a case of going along and having a look i suppose!

Mark never came to any as he was always busy and now its one of the things he really wants to do so itll be nice going along with him.

I went to 2 when I was planning the wedding...... one in Cardiff where I lived and I went to the National Wedding Show as well...

I found them quite useful for ideas but as I wasn't getting married in "Cardiff" or Manchester I didn't find much there that I could use.... they were both good fun, and I must say I found it very funny looking at some of the "neurotic" B2B's who were there with their mothers, grandmas etc who were all giving their opinions

Hope you enjoy yours! I'm sure it will be even better with them being at your venue..... just think of all the ideas & tips you can pick up!

Oh yeah... don't forget the "Fashion Show" sections... sometimes you don't know whether to laugh or cry!

The wedding fayre we went to at the Telford Moat House was laughingly bad..I mean, it was so rubbish hehe

Bring on the national wedding show!

Rooley, it is a shame that I didn't read this thread yesterday as you could have called in for a cup of tea on your way past. That might have made up for your shockingly bad wedding fayre!

oh rooley.. sorry to hear that the wedding fayre you went to today wasn't that good..

ours was quite good, but half way through they ended up packing away ~ seems we got told bum information about what time it finished.

we're going to a bigger wedding fayre too at the end of this month...

luckily though found some great suppliers ~ especially in the cake dept. yummy!!!!

I went to one at a hotel in Arundel which is near where my parents live. Thought it would be good as its only just down the road from where we live. There were a few things that were OK but there wasn't really much there. Got an idea for a cake though. They had photographers and cars etc but they were all quite expensive.

There is a big fair on at the Bournemouth International Centre next month so I'm going to that one.

Oh yes, they always have the very expensive ones there! LOL...

No wonder mine and Jonathans wedding cost estimations keep going up and up and up...

They'll come down again as you learn to cut corners

Glad you enjoyed it - I only went to one, at our venue, and it was great!

i went to loads but the best ones are at your venue as you get an idea of what it will look like on the day.

a good idea is to get the voucher book at the beginning and use the offers they give you

i got 10% off my flowers from the brochure and i was using them anyway.

also they give you "special" prices if you book then and there so maybe an idea to take cheque book with you.

i liked the fashion shows as you got to see what the dresses look like on a person and not a manequin.

they a skinny person but hey!!

Good luck on the next one, i liked the national one which stopped going to scotland. They were rubbish after that.

I think I'll need a much appreciated hand from you girls when it comes to cutting corners...

So far, things are going from bad to worse.. each time I re-evaluate our estimate, it goes up a grand or so each time.
