Default Page boys

h2b and I seem to have gone and got ourselves lumbered with a page boy now. We weren't going to have one and just have 2 bridesmaids, 2 ushers and the best man. Paul's sister has 2 boys who will be 16 and 8 when we get married. The 16 year old is going to be one of our ushers and my brother the other one. A few weeks ago Pauls mum mentioned about the little one being a page boy and we said we'd think about it but we weren't planning on having one so probably not. Anyway we saw them all yesterday and Jack was all excited about being a page boy and getting to dress up in a posh suit. The thing is we hadn't said yes or even asked him ourselves and Pauls mum had just said told him that he could be a page boy.

We didn't have the heart to say that he couldn't do it as he is so looking forward to it and getting all excited. Its just p****d me off as weren't going to have a page boy and now we've got to pay for another suit etc.

At the moment I feel like Pauls mum. I can't believe that she just told him that we wanted him to be a page boy but didn't check with us first.

Its so annoying isn't it-

Families

Grin and bear it-maybe you could say to Paul's mum (well we hadn't budgetted for it-and hint so they pay?)

Thats what we did and she ended up paying for her dress.

On the day it won't matter but its the principal and I totally agree with you on this one

Ahem, what's wrong with wanting to be a bridesmaid at 26 years old?

I would suggest not putting him in the expense of a suit and finding something else for him to wear...what about trousers he already owns and then getting a really funky little shirt which ties in with your colour theme? It will be less expensive this way and he will still feel 'part of it'...he'll look cute on the photos anyway.

Sounds like his mum just 'wants everyone to be included....my mum is in the process of putting all and sundry on the guest list which i am going to have to kick her ass about soon.

Dont you just feel like your sometimes!

Were kind of going to have the same problem because Marks sister had a boy last year and we didnt want a pageboy but we know when it comes round to planning again, its going to be 'expected'. Weve talked about it and if it comes up, we'll just put him in a little suit and thats it - were not spending a fortune.

Hope you get it sorted and they dont interfere to much

We had the same thing happen to us......... although it was a bit of bonus as I'd "lost" my big bridesmaid, so as it turned out it was perfect.

It's not nice though to be put in a position where you can't really say no.

I know where you are coming from, sometimes people do get carried away though and 'assume' things which I agree is naughty.

I would try and not dwell on it too much, and try to not let it upset your budget etc.

I guess they say weddings and funerals cause stresses and arguements! ARGH!!!

Take care pet, Love Karen-xx
