I think we are going to do a CD of our favourite songs per couple/family and then do some sort of sweets as well. Can't decide between just married love hearts or choccy hearts. Might have both.

Other ideas I've heard of are lottery tickets, sweets of any kind, choccies, minatures, candles, little plants, flowers. I think you could really have just about anything you wanted.

We had lottery tickets as favours as i didn't want the normal sugar almonds!

Everyone really liked them and we did have one winner out of 83, but it was only a tenner!!

Oh well!

but the excitement was there for a while!

This is an area that I am spending quite alot of time and thought on myself....

I have considered minature candles ~ engraved with mine & Jonathans name and date of our wedding.

Also I have heard about having minature soaps ~ also idea's which you've already listed.

Little perfume samples to sound nice though! Let us know what Estee Lauder come back with?

I've got abit of a mental block at the moment when it comes to idea's etc, but if I come up with any I will let you know.

It's not very original but chocolate tends to be popular if you have lots of guests like me (who despite the dessert and cake are pissed and want more sweets)....... I've been to SO many weddings this last two years, and don't want to rain on anyone's parade but honestly didn;t notice when there were no favours at all (I obsessed about my own too) - so try not to worry too much about them!

Talking unusual favours

We went to a wedding last christmas and in stead of the usual almonds they had boxes on each table fille dwith party poppers, bubbles, these strange indoor firework thingys and so on. odd but the bride was a little strange.and little packets of after eights and those four pack of farrero rochae (I canna spell cap'n)

I was boring and had almonds but any left over were hoovered up by the hotel dog the next day, he ate wrapper and all but there was no harm done thankfully!

IF you have a nice Avon lady who you get on with Avon do tester samples for the sales people. You could sweet talk her into ordering them for you,As far as I remember from doing it they seem to have perfume, aftershave, cremes and so on

Any more bright Ideas I have I let you know

I was in a nightclub one night and a department store was sponsoring that particular night. They had packaged up samples of perfumes from the perfume counter - joop, hugo, opium, cerutti etc to give out. They were lovely. Excellent idea babyicebean!

How about giving everyone a tea bag and telling them to have a drink on the bride and groom

To be honest the best favour I've ever seen was at our friends Cor & Rob's wedding. Instead of choccies, almonds, candles and other stuff that usually gets forgotten or thrown into a drawer to gather dust & never seen again (sorry, but it's true - it's only usually a sentimental thing for the bride & groom and most of the guests don't really care! Ohh don't I sound old, bitter and married! ) - Cor & Rob left cards at each place, telling us that they have made a donation to a charity called Samaritan's Purse, which meant that instead of us getting a gift, it meant that a starving baby received fresh milk for a week, and because of the number of guests, the child would be fed for over 18 months.

Much more beneficial than a sugared almond, I think! And it just touched me a lot (apart from the fact I gave everyone chocolate at ours !)

Just another idea, but one I can pretty much guarantee most people don't do.

I'll try Rooley - even so, I think people like World Vision etc would do the same thing if you contact them (As would most charities of your choice - but I have to give a wee plug for World Vision as I'm a child sponsor & want to whip up as much support as I can! )
