Question Responses to invitations

Hi

Got a problem - anyone got any advice for me - had the same thing happening to them? Marrying the lovely Rick on June 12 - 8 weeks away. Having a big party in the evening. Venue and band are booked but cannot move on catering, cake, favours, etc etc until some idea of numbers. Sent out over 100 invitations a month ago - so far have had 15 replies! What do I do? Can I chase up the people who have not responded...or do I just assume they're not coming? This one is keeping me awake nights. Anyone got any thoughts?

Dolly

Hi Dolly, to Groovy.

I think it most unlikely that 85 people aren't coming - it's much more probable that they haven't thought about it yet!
Did you give people a date to reply by?

I only found out my aunt (+ husband, 2 daughters, 1 partner and 3 grandkids!)were coming when the hotel told me the day before our wedding that she'd booked several rooms!!

Give it another couple of weeks and then start chasing them.

Good luck with it all!

Hi Dolly

Welcome to Groovy

Did you put an rsvp date on the invites. If you did then you can't really chase people up until that date passes. I'd leave it another couple of weeks and then start chasing. If you see any of the guests before then, you could just casually ask them.

I definitely wouldn't worry about chasing people - especially if you sent the invites out over a month ago. Most people will understand - just explain that you need to finalise arrangements, etc. Good luck!

to Groovy by the way!

I doubt too that 85 aren't turning up - but any bride to be would worry about it. Its natural.

I would chase them up as you see fit. If you are okay to hold off a while then great, but if not, go for it. Either way, it's an additional worry you could do without.

I think with my invitations I am going to enclose a reply card and also an RSVP date as to try and speed things up.

People are lazy and time passes quickly for them! I wouldn't worry, a little kick up the a*se wont hurt them!

Welcome to Groovy by the way!

Hugs, Karen xx

Welcome to Groovy! I agree with what the others say give it a couple of weeks and then start chasing. If you're worried about seeming pushy just tell them the venue needs final figures.

Hi Dolly

We're doing the deed the week before (4th June) and our invites went out on 1st March. We have received a few more than 15 but still to receive loads more. We also put an RSVP date for 1st April so that didn't really work. We are finding that a lot of peeps we're chasing are saying, 'oh I thought you knew I'd be coming'!!

My advice would be to chase over the next few weeks. We need to give approx numbers next week which we cant do without chasing.

Good luck! xx
