Question agh! Seating plans!

Help! I have 4 sets of parents to please at my wedding next year. As much as they will probably get along for the day, I do not relish the idea of them all sat at the same table! So I thought a boufet might be best, but how do I make sure everyone has a place to sit without a seating plan?

Has anyone else got this problem? How have you solved it? It really is starting to do my head in....

If they are seated at a "top table"then I dont think they will be sat next to each other as there is some sort of ettiquette rule thing where you sit Fatherof Bride next to CBM or something. Also if the table is a long one everyone is not facing each other as such so after speeches will proably do their own thing esp. if its a buffet..

Hi, Welcome to Groovy

I had 2.5 sets of parents, which was slighty easier to deal with!! I decided on a top table as I was able to space them out

I only had my mum and brother, but Mark has the 2 sets, so I did it like this (imagine you are a guest looking at the table!)

Step-dad, Mum, Best Man, My Mum, Mark, Me, Brother, Chief Bridesmaid, Dad, Step Mum

I'm thinking maybe you could have 12 on the top table, as 10 didn't look too odd at our wedding, how about (again, looking on):

H2b's SD, H2b's Mum, Best Man, Your SD, Your Mum, Groom, You, Your Dad, Your SM, CBM, H2b's Dad, H2b's step mum

I personally found it easier to have them all on the one table facing out so they couldn't mis-behave (not that they would've, but I didn't want any bitchin' on my day!!!)

Hope this helps, tell them this is only for 2.5 hours and would mean so much to you and H2b

So, anymore details? Share with us please, we're a nosey bunch

Lo xx

I think Lo has given some great advise there for you! Especially with her having been in a very similar situation.

I am sure regardless, your sets of parents will put their differences aside for your special day!

I think Lo's advice is great and seating them at a long top table is a good idea. Otherwise you could have a seating plan and put one set of parents on each table. I've seen this done before and its worked quite well. YOu could then have a top table with you, hubby and the bridesmaids, best man and ushers.

I'm sure they'll be fine on the day and make an effort for you.
