Default When should I contact florist

Hi everyone...

My wedding is now just over a year away - a year exactly this Friday!!!

When should I be looking to book a consultation with a local florist?

I am never sure if this kind of thing is better being booked and arranged ASAP, or is okay to be left.

Either way is not a problem for me, and I have a very good idea of what I want already.

Thanks

I booked mine about three months before. I am not sure what the ideal is. Try asking a florist and see if they laugh at you!

I went to see a florist 6 months before & got quotes e.t.c. and we didn't speak again until the week before wedding.

I'd approach the florist now as you'll be able to see the range of flowers available at this time of year and also some sample bouquets maybe.

You don't need to worry about booking them just yet as they can usually do a few weddings on the same day but it might be worth dropping your date into the conversation and getting yourself pencilled in.

I haven't got my florist sorted yet. We have the flowers for the reception as Pauls mum is doing them but need to get the bouquets and button holes sorted.

That is next on my list to do. I've spoken to a few and they have all said about three months notice to book but then you can go in nearer the time and decide.

It might be a good idea to have a look around some now and get some ideas of what you like and see what is available at this time of year.

I don't think you really nead to hurry with this as all the ones I spoke to didn't need loads of notice.

I was going to suggest the same as Laurie and speak to them now so you can get an idea of the flowers available.

Also, I found that the woman we want to do it is booked up to a year in advance and if you really want someone, its worth booking early.

Good luck finding someone!

Thank you everyone!

I think I will speak to a florist on the phone and see if I am laughed away, or they want to pencil me in for a meet-up/ chat...

Also as I would like idea's of pricing etc.

With the year still being a year off, we will be able to come up with the extra cash needed here or there, as long as we know in advance what we need....

But, as usual with weddings I guess, the costs keep going, up and up and up...

I picked my florist a year before, like Laurie says you get an idea of in0season flowers so can save a few pennies this way

I paid a £25 deposit to book their time (v. popular florists) as they only do 2 weddings per day and then went back to see them 2 weeks before the day!

HTH,

Thanks for that Lo

Did you just book over the phone without visiting?
I have looked at some award winning florists online, of which I am very happy with the look of their work, would it be okay for me to just book them via phone and send them their deposit? Or should I visit different one's?
