I bought a magazine called "wedding flowers"to get some idea and went to chat to the fantastic florist near me and she said come in to order one week before the wedding!!!
I'd approach the florist now as you'll be able to see the range of flowers available at this time of year and also some sample bouquets maybe.
You don't need to worry about booking them just yet as they can usually do a few weddings on the same day but it might be worth dropping your date into the conversation and getting yourself pencilled in.

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.
I haven't got my florist sorted yet. We have the flowers for the reception as Pauls mum is doing them but need to get the bouquets and button holes sorted.
That is next on my list to do. I've spoken to a few and they have all said about three months notice to book but then you can go in nearer the time and decide.
It might be a good idea to have a look around some now and get some ideas of what you like and see what is available at this time of year.
I don't think you really nead to hurry with this as all the ones I spoke to didn't need loads of notice.

I am paying the church "mothers union" to do the flowers in the church, but dont know cost yet..only having a few buton holes (calla lillies)for male party..
I think I will speak to a florist on the phone and see if I am laughed away, or they want to pencil me in for a meet-up/ chat...
Also as I would like idea's of pricing etc.
With the year still being a year off, we will be able to come up with the extra cash needed here or there, as long as we know in advance what we need....
But, as usual with weddings I guess, the costs keep going, up and up and up...

I picked my florist a year before, like Laurie says you get an idea of in0season flowers so can save a few pennies this way
I paid a £25 deposit to book their time (v. popular florists) as they only do 2 weddings per day and then went back to see them 2 weeks before the day!
HTH,

Did you just book over the phone without visiting?
I have looked at some award winning florists online, of which I am very happy with the look of their work, would it be okay for me to just book them via phone and send them their deposit? Or should I visit different one's?
