Default The ball is rollin'!!!

Wow...it's funny how things start to really come together when you set your mind to it! I took the last two days off of work so I could concentrate solely on the wedding plans while my son was at school and the fiance was at work. I hauled my mom out and about to see what we could find.
Good news...the red dress is a go!!! I found a local boutique to order it for me. I should have it in 2 months (won't have downpayment for a few weeks). We also decided to have my mom bake the cakes so we can save money. She made a quilt cake for my sister-in-laws baby shower and she's really good at it...so we're going to use her talent. She's going to practice the actual wedding cakes for my bridal shower only in a smaller version. I can't wait to see how it comes out!!! I'm just so excited now. We're going this weekend to reserve our reception hall and should have the chapel booked in a few weeks! The time off from work was well spent. I'm breathing a little bit easier now How is everyone else coming along???

I'm glad your time off work has been well spent in arranging some weddingy stuff. Thats great that your mum is able to bake your cake!!

My plans are coming along really well, I actually thought planning the wedding would be alot more stressful than what it appears to be!

Mind, things could get worse as time goes on (I hope not though!)

Hugs, Karen xx

My son is 8. His name is Daemon. ( pronounced
day-mun ) He's pretty excited. Kevin has been in his life for as long as he can remember and he loves him so much. He will be an usher. I'm not sure what a page boy is. Basically he'll just be walking my mother down the aisle to her seat and then standing next to the Best Man...I think that's chief attendant over there??? We'll be including him at some point in the ceremony as well. Either Kevin will make a vow to him as well as to me or he will do that AND we will present him with a new family crest. Dae doesn't know that yet though. I think we're going to surprise him with it. It's nice to be able to have your child go through this with you. I know it's supposed to be the other way around, but I'd never do it any differently. I tried to talk him into giving me away with my father, but he doesn't want to. He's very sensitive and I think he's afraid he'd cry if he did that. Awwww....

How anyone in their right mind would think that your son giving you away is weird is beyond me! I think it's a beautiful gesture. In essence your father walking you down the aisle is supposed to be his way of giving his blessing and basically letting your fiance know that he feels he's worthy of having you as his bride. If it's your son doing this, ESPECIALLY when he's still young enough to have no choice but to live with this man for quite a few more years, I think it is very meaningful. He's giving his blessing by walking you down and he's telling his future stepfather that he's not only worthy of having his mother, but he's worthy of having him in his life as well. I say go for it! I would insist on having my son do it if my father wasn't so close to me.

Default Save the date...

I have made my own "save the date" cards to send out to everyone since our wedding is around Christmas. We want everyone to at least have the date in mind before they start making plans...but since it's not until the end of 2005 when do you all think I should send them out? I'm getting them all put into their envelopes and addressed so that I will be able to send them out when the time comes to do so...I just don't know if now is too soon? Please let me know what you think!

Thanks

To be honest I think it may be too soon...just a personal opinion though.

We sent our 'save the date' info with the Christmas cards - which was over 9 months before our wedding.Having said that, maybe things are different in the USA?

Let's see what other groovers think

If you address envelopes now some of your guests might move in the meantime causing a bit of chaos!
