Engagement ring
This morning.. whilst lazing in bed.. I noticed that a stone is missing from my engagement ring. One of the little tiny ones
I really treasure this ring, and dont wear it in water or whilst doing cleaning etc.
The ring wasn't cheap and I am gutted that a stone has came out so soon.
Luckily it is just within its 1yr warranty period, so I wont have to pay to get it repaired.
But, I will have to get it insured now because I know the same thing will probably happen again.
Anyone else had problems like this? Is it normal?
I need to take it back to Beaverbrooks so that they can send it away. I would have dropped it off tomorrow, but I dont want to go trying on wedding dresses on Saturday with no engagement ring on. Awww... I will be lost without it. I'll take it in next week though.. when I can tear myself away from it.

Oh i'd die if I lost a diamond out of my engagement ring. It's such a personal thing that it's almost a part of me.
After saying that I abuse it constantly by washing up, swimming, mud wrestling etc in it so i'm lucky it's still in one piece!
Hope you get it sorted soon.

K wears a very old ring which was her mothers and I believe her Grandmothers. When we were on honeymoon, staying in Queenstwon, she noticed that one of the little diamonds was missing. So its not unusual (sang in a Tom Jones stylee), and worth checking your rings periodically for looseness <J starts to make a gag but thinks better of it >.
She had it replaced by a new diamond, so looks as good as new now.

I only have one big fat diamond in my E ring and so if I lost it would be gutted beyond belief...like Vic B when she lost hers in Harrods dahling!
If its one of the smaller ones hon don't worry too much, they are easier to replace than the big one. They are known in the trade as 'sparklers' (according to H2B's dad who knows about these things )
You deffo need to wear it on Saturday or the people in the shop will think you are doing what I am going to do after I am married...and pretend just so I can try on dresses!
I'm another that mud wrestles in her E ring, in fact, Dawnie its about time we had a rematch!

Now behave! One lesson to know is NEVER let a jeweller use one of those sonic cleaners on your rings - I lost the 50 yr old emerald out of a family ring when it was cleaned in one of those (dropped out a week later, never seen again) and also my e-ring diamond came loose after a turn in one!
I personally find that mud wrestling doesnt affect my jewellery at all

Sorry Nikki, I am thick.. whats sonic cleaner? I need to be careful because I really dont want it happening again.
God, you've been unlucky twice! Poor you! Especially losing a stone out of a family ring

It uses sound waves to clean the ring instead of brushes. However it can cause the stone to vibrate slightly hence the loss of a diamond in Nikkis case.

Once went to an exhibition for medical equipment (don't ask) and one of the suppliers had sterilising equipment for medical stuff which operated on the same princiapl, and they were cleaning everyone's jewellry, came up a treat. Didn't know about the loosening thing though, good tip.
