Question money gifts

Hi everyone

we have booked a round the world honeymoon costing near enough £6000.. As we moved into together after we got engaged we already have our housey domestic things and there really isnt much we need, apart from a new toaster maybe!

we thought of setting up a small JL list, and asking for money (cheques).. i know a nice way of doing this is to write a poem and insert it into the invitations which havent gone out yet

Has anyone else thought of this and does anyone have any rhyming sentences that could help?

TA muchas

We are only asking immediate family for cash so we can do our kitchen. Have you thought about holiday gift vouchers (e.g. Thomas Cook or Lunn Poly) to help pay for your honeymoon or give you your spending money?

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.

hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then, that I will thank
God for you, and ask him for nothing,

we were in the same situation, so we went for a Thomas Cook gift list. Our honeymoon is booked and due to be paid in a few weeks, but we will just get a refund on whatever is in our account when we close it.

We actually received a wedding invitation today and in it is this really nice looking little card with the following words:

Gifts

We look forward to exploring the world together, so we have set up a holiday account with Kuoni Travel Agents.

If you would like to contribute please call: number and quote wedding gift ref: number

I thought this was a nice and inoffensive way of asking for money!

I also like what people in The Netherlands do when they would rather have money than gifts. At the bottom of the invitation or on a seperate sheet they put 'Gift idea:' and then a little drawing of an envelope.
I would like to do this on our invitations but I don't think people here know what it means. I'd rather not have everyone turning up with a wrapped pack of envelopes
