Default Advice Please!!

Hi everyone!

My maid of honour lives in Manchester (and I live in Newcastle) so I have to kind of work around her when it comes to looking for bridesmaid dresses, which I don't mind at all.

She has managed to get time off at the end of January so we are all going dress hunting then, with the hope of finding something and ordering it then.

Well my predicament (sp?) is my fiance and I have already talked about colour schemes and we are both in agreement with Ice Blue. However, I am worried that when the girls try this colour on it won't suit them. So, in cases like this, when my fiance won't be there, do the girls and I find and choose a colour, without my fiance decision, or should I go back and consult with my fiance first??

The latter wouldn't normally be a problem, but as my maid of honour lives away we don't have time to home and think things through you know!?!

I just don't want to upset my fiance, although he says as long as I don't pick a few certain colours which he doesn't like, he doesn't mind, but I want his opinion too!

Sorry for the whinge, I was just wondering if anyone else had the same problem!?!

Gosh, I'm amazed he's interested. My hubby wasn't! If your bridesmaids don't like the colour (I know it's your day but sometimes you have to compromise, finding something my bridesmaids would wear was far worse than finding my dress), can you arrange to contact him when you're on the shopping trip to discuss? Perhaps take camera phones so he can see the alternatives? Or agree 2nd and 3rd choice colours?

Hi Jefna

I was going to suggest coming up with two choices you like, then finding the internet site of the dresses when you get home and showing them to him.

My hub2be came up with the idea of burnt orange too for our BM's. Our men obviously have great taste

I think I'd make sure you know what colours NOT to go for and then tell H2B to make sure he's by a phone so you can ring if you need his advice or input. If you both want ice blue though and the colour doesn't suit all the bridesmaids what about a variety of blues? Decords was a bridesmaid last year and they all wore different shades of blue. She posted the pics on here and it looked brilliant.
Good luck.

Thanks guys!

He has said he trusts me - and I know the colours he doesn't want, and the camera phone is there if I need it!!

Ang - When we came up with Ice Blue, I was thinking of using different shades of blue in other parts of the wedding, but I never thought of different colours for the dresses - what a great idea!!!

xx

The camera phone is a great idea. My hubby wasn't really that interested in colour schemes at all. He said as long as he didn't have to wear pink he didn't mind!!! In the end with the dress I chose, I ended up telling him what the colours were going to be. I was quite lucky as my 2 BM's are both quite dark with dark hair and I knew that the dark red I liked would suit them.

Well....think thats a brilliant idea about texting photos. You are lucky to have your h2b so interested in the colour! Pete was like, yeah sounds cool! (But he was brill in other ways)

I was just trying to look for the other photos of my friends wedding where we all wore different shades of blue...can anyone see them anywhere? I'll look when I get home and post later if you like

Decords - Thanks soooo much for those photos!

They look great together - I would never have thought of doing that!
I love those flowers you had too!
