Default What do I need to ask.....?

I'm making an appointment to meet up with the Manager where we're holding our reception because there's a few things I need to just confirm with him. For example, how they normally lay the tables out for wedding reception, and also find out a bit more about their drinks packages etc. Is there anything else that springs to mind that I should ask....? I'll also be doing the same with the hall that we're having our ceremony at to find out about playing music etc....
I know theres probably loads of things I need to know, but can't think of anything at the moment!

i would ask if you could see the room done up when they have their next wedding - it gives the best idea of what they do and how it will look. i went and saw ours one saturday morning before the guests got there

Seconds Lisa suggestion. Thinks long and hard:-
You might want to ask if they have a choice of tablecloths etc - or the over cloth that covers the usually white tablecloth ( I know what I mean! ) This saves you worrying about your colour scheme clashing.

Ask if there are any issues with candles etc if that is what you want as your centrepiece - same goes for table ********.
Is there anywhere safe to store the wedding presents you'll be given?
Do they have someone who will be dedicated to overseeing everything the day of your reception?
Where will any flower bouquets being delivered to the hotel the day of your wedding be kept? (A bouquet we had for Js mother was never found!)
If you are having children at the reception, do they have enough high chairs etc

I'll keep thinking...

Thanks for the suggestions Lisa and Karen....!
They're all things I never even THOUGHT about asking.
Karen - the highchairs question is very important...There'll be about 10 young children at the reception!

Definately try and see the room laid out for a wedding or at least pictures of it. Ask if they have any limits on anything. For example one venue we looked at would only let you have their recommended photographer take photos in the venue and only their recommended florist.

Also ask about timings for the day so you can get a rough idea of how it will run. If its a hotel ask about negotiating a discount for block booking lots of rooms for the guests.

Find out if there are any extra charges like cleaning up the next day, laundry etc as we had to pay another £50 for this. You might want to find out childrens meals too or if they have a separate area for them to play in later on.

Also find out who will be overseeing everything on the day and if that is the same person that you can speak to in the run up with any questions. We had a dedicated person for all the planning which was really good.

Another thing you might want to find out about is when they need final numbers etc and final decisions on menu. Ours didn't want any of this until 2 weeks before but some places we looked at wanted it up to 8 weeks before so this could affect when you need to send out invites.

I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

If you're planning on having candles or tealights on your tables, check that they allow it as some venues don't allow naked flame.

Otherwise....no other ideas!

Hello

I'd suggest asking about candles, they may have regulations? Also ask if alcohol favours are ok (they might not like it dependng on licensing etc) also about timings for the day, whether they provide a toast master, who will be on hand during the day for any problem solving, where is ideal for photographs etc. If there is a secure room / area for you to keep presents / get changed...erm
