Question Anyone beat me for wedding disasters?

Here they are so far:
-Change of venue and date (1st venue rip off merchants!!)
-Change of minisiter (on holiday on new date)
-Shop ordered wrong BM dresses
-Company doing stationery & favours went bankrupt
-I was given the wrong veil
-Tiara had to go back as stone fell out
-Couldn't get matching BM shoes as they all have diff shaped feet!
-Change of best man (his g/f wouldn't allow him to dance with CBM or stay night before wedding without her)
-My dress has been sent back to manufacturer as it has a fault
-Had to change band as first one refused to answer my calls
-Am fighting with photographer as he refuses to speak to me until closer to the time (accusing me of losing him business cos I changed date!!)
-Had to change design of cake as it was based round original stationery design which I can't now get anyone else to do
-My hairdresser of 7 years can't do my hair as she's on honeymoon

What else can go wrong????

BUT ........found new supplier of stationery and favours etc and they are just the bees knees, much better than the first one!

You poor thing! You have had a really difficult time haven't you. You sound like you are doing a good job at keeping your chin up and getting things sorted out
Good luck sorting the rest of it - and keep us posted on how you do!

I haven't as many disasters (so far) but here goes:-

1) The vicar (married) that was performing the ceremony ran of with one of his parishoners (apologies for spelling) who he was counselling over her divorce!!! ( beat that one)

2) The reception venue was sold, and the new company are completely refurbishing it- which includes building work, (great for photos)

3) The cruise company cancelled our honeymoon because of sept 11th.

4) The hairdresser that I booked over a year ago has left- no one let me know- i found out this weekend.

I'm sure that there was more than this, but I can't think of them for the time being.

Only thing that keeps me going now is that everyone tells me that the day will go perfectly now that all the "bad" things have happened..........I can but hope!

Crikey Alli!

I don't think I can top any of that! The one main disaster, if you can call it that, has been my dress which is completely the wrong size and is now being re-made (at my expense) by a dressmaker for me. Other than that we had the stationery show up with the wrong colour ribbons on (a tricky one this - we were sent the colour we ordered, however our order was based on samples which were incorrectly named, so we actually got the wrong colours for us) but it all got sorted out very quickly. Our budget has continued to shrink away to nothing because I couldn't find any work here in Oz, and we've just found out that my Mum, who is paying for almost everything, has just been made redundant. Other than that it's been pretty plain sailing.

What a shame Alli oh my

I have had the following things happen in 1 year and threee months of planning.

Sister who was bridesmaid became pregnant not really a disaster but we where both upset as she has always wanted to be my bridesmaid.

Thought my best friend who lives in Aus was not going to make it back in time as she has just been made a citizen and needs to stay for the ceremony and I had bought her dress £177 shoes, bag, corsage.

My minster is on holiday so he got us a new one.

that is it so far touching wood

Blimey Alli,

hope none of us have to go through all that!

My only diasaster so far has been ..... oh, an incredibly rambling tale about changing dates and a mad sister-in-law which half the internet already knows cos I badmouthed her everywhere - but I can tell it again if you insist???????

Oooh, was that an invite??? Lordy, I hoe she never turns up here or on Confetti........

In short:

Nick's sis got engaged at Xmas and promptly planned to have her wedding 3 wks after ours (we were 30th Nov, she was going for 21st Dec)......

...Then Nick's dad said it might be best if we had them a week apart to allow for rellies coming from a long way away......

So WE changed all our arrangements to 14th Dec - booked venue, registrar etc....

...Then Nick's mum said his dad's idea was silly and ideally they should be three months apart at least cos of the strain on family involved and money etc..... but she said the sis should change cos we were engaged and planning ours first......

......Then the sis rang and said she wanted 14th Dec, we'd stolen her date and we should do the decent thing and get married in the summer so that she could have exactly what SHE wanted....

.....And eventually her parents told her to behave; but she still maintains it's all our fault and we nicked her wedding date! The 'confusion' was nothing to do with her........ but at least she changed in the end, not me again!!!!

She'll kill me if she ever reads any of these threads..... but she tries to bully Nick and I really don;t like that!!!
