Introduction
I stumbled across this forum while I was searching for something for my wedding (at this point I can't even remember what it was). I've noticed that you're all from the UK, I'm from the US, and haven't found any "good" wedding forums for my area. Hopefully you'll let me impede on your advice and all that, it would be great to have input (and hopefully give a little of my own) on wedding planning, even if I am an ocean away.

As everyone has said we are happy to have new people from anywhere - the furtherest afield we've had is Australia!

Okay, now that I have a little time I'll get down to the good stuff- the plans thus far (and thank you for the warm welcome!). We (my fiance Dustin and I) are getting married August 6th of this year. It'll be a very casual affair, I'll post a picture of my dress in awhile, my bridesmaid (my best friend of 10 years) will be in a knee length, flowy pink dress. The groom will be in khakis and a white dress shirt, the groomsman (his brother, a Marine stationed at the Hague) will be in khakis and a light green dress shirt (our colors are pink and green). The ceremony will take place by the water, in a gazebo, and the reception will take place about a hundred yards away in a nice little reception hall, with a deck overlooking the water. My fiance is in the Navy, and we were able to reserve the gazebo and reception hall (located on a Navy recreation facility on Solomons Island in Maryland) for a very good price. We'll be meeting with our baker and dj soon, and I can't wait!
A little about me, I am 22 (but an "old" 22), and have a 2 year old son from a previous relationship. Neither me nor my fiance has been married (he is 24). Right now we live thirty minutes south of Washington DC.

Hiya Nicole
Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage - not long to go now!
I'm Karen (25) and I am marrying my fiance Jonathan (37) on 23rd April, so not long left for us to go now. We've been together now for 3 happy years.
Your plans sound wonderful
Ahhh it doesnt matter that you arnt from the UK, as said, there are plenty of oversea's Groovers - so you won't at all feel out of place etc.
Enjoy the rest of your planning, and I'll hopefully catch up with you again really soon.
Love Karen xxx

I'm the one from furthest away! I'm in southern Australia and I have to say, this forum was so helpful and it didn't matter where people were from at all. Best of luck with all your planning and the wedding!

Hiya Linda
It depends as my dress took 5 months to actually arrive in stock from the day I ordered it.
For a May 2006 wedding, maybe you could start looking Nov/ December 2005?

Well...
Here is a link to my newest purchase, the invitations. I'm so proud of them, they're too cute. Definitely sets the tone for the low key wedding.
This is my dress. I ordered it in December and it should be here in April. I made the mistake of looking around at more dresses (big no-no), and fell slightly in love with this one. I have to keep reminding myself that (a) I have already purchased a perfectly wonderful dress, and (b)I am slightly in love with every dress this designer has ever made, so naturally I am having little doubts periodically. Either way, the dress I have ordered (and will wear) is perfect for my outdoor wedding, and I will just have to find some way to become a wedding dress model so that I can fulfill my dream of wearing a wedding dress every day.
