Default What music are you going with?

I haven't decided on my church music yet. I like Arrival of the Queen of Sheba but my uncle plays the trumpet so I'm not sure if that will work.

I must have two songs for my sister/maid of honor to sing at the reception, she's a professional singer. I am undecided about that yet. I'm considering Sara Evans "I Could Not Ask For More." Another nice one that I found for her to sing perhaps is "What A Difference A Day Makes." It's an old song by either Doris Day or Billie Holiday, and very nice.

I have however got most of my dance music picked out. I've been downloading all week, and for my first dance I'm going to have either "Hold Me" or "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do" both of which were sung my Whitney Houston and Jermaine Jackson. For the second song, which I dance with my Dad, I'm going to have Holly Dunn's "Daddy's Hands." I recently purchased a wedding etiquette book and it explained how all the dances are supposed to go, what music I need and all that jazz. I wasn't sure.

For my garter belt ceremony, I'm going to have "Sex and Candy" by Marcy Playground and for my bouquet toss I'm going to have "You Can't Hurry Love" by Diana Ross. I haven't decided on a song to cut my cake to yet but I'm working on it...maybe "I Got You Babe" by Sonny and Cher, so cute...or maybe "When I Said I Do" by Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black...maybe and I also LOVE "A New Day Has Come by Celine Dion, that will be in there some place.

Are you obsessing over music like me? Please share your questions and selections.

Here's a good helpful site.... http://www.weddingromance.com/music/

Speaking of which, are you all having the garter belt ceremony, or is that in something which nobody does anymore. I haven't seen it at the last few weddings I went to but I am assuming you still can do it and it's a great photo opportunity.

I thought we could share our music and ideas, that would be great.

The garter ceremony doesn't happen in the UK anyway, and most brides here these days don't seem to toss their bouquet either.

I was at a wedding in California years ago, where it was done - it did look like fun

There is no tradition of cutting the cake to music here either, so we're probably not the best people to ask

I walked out to 'Let there be love' by Nat King Cole and walked into The Trumpert Voluntry

First dance was 'You're too good to be true, can't take my eyes off you'

Welcome to Groovy by the way!

I wasn't sure about that. It's really fun to get the UK perspective on weddings.

The garter belt ceremony is fun. It's totally accepted part of tradition here. The idea is to put the garter below the knee and have the groom remove it modestly, not grope and carry on like some people do. Some trashy girls put it way up there leg and have to hike up their dress, those are probably the same girls who get drunk at their own wedding. Not this girl. A very racy garter ceremony would just embarrassed the older guests as well as the bride herself. Ideally he just slips it off and then all the single guys gather and he tosses it to them over his back. The belief is that the guy who catches it will be the next to get hitched. It's just a great photo opp and the garter is a great keepsake. Many hick, or rocker sort of guys hang the garter off of the rearview mirror of their car, as sort of a trophy.

The bouquet is just the same accept the single girls gather and the bride tosses it over her shoulder. The girl to catch it is supposed to be next to marry, so the girls really can get into it and all try to catch it. Cat fights have been known to break out over the bouquet but not usually. Everyone does the bouquet toss here in the west.

Not everyone does the garter ceremony and it sadly seems to be dying out but I'm having it just for the photographs. I want as many pictures of my dress as possible.

I'd be interested to hear about what you do that we do not as I assume there are many things.

as a girl would you try and catch the bouquet if the guy who caught the
garter was horrible cos surely they'll be destined for each other

WELCOME TO GROOVY BY THE WAY

Thats a wonderful website - thanks for that link!

I am having a harpist play for my ceremony, and I will be walking in to the traditional wedding march, for the signing of the registrar she will play Celine Dions - My Heart Will Go On, and to exit I am walking out to Canon in D by Pachelbel...

For my first dance I'm having Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman - Come What May...

The Garter Ceremony does seem so much fun! Theres quite a few US wedding shown over here, so I've saw this ceremony a few times!

I'm not throwing my bouquet (how boring, LOL) only I am having it preserved so want to keep it in best condition.

Welcome to Groovy!!! Speak to you soon, Karen xxx

Someone I know had a small hand tied bunch to match their flowers and threw that. They had it made though so that as they threw it some of the flowers came loose so more than one person caught it.
