Default Viewing Venues

Well finally after a lot of time trawling the net for a venue that would fulfill our needs and tight budget and low number of guests we have finally shortlisted to castles.
The first is a fairly local one well ok its about 45mins from here Tutbury Castle and finally it re-opens to the public on Sunday so we are going to take the girls for the opening day we decided we would prefer to do this rather than walking around with an organiser as we felt we would feel pressured as the web site doesnt have loads of pictures on so as yet havnt seen what the grand hall looks like which is the main thing for Andy but the good thing is they do small weddings without putting a min number on and the ceremony actually takes place in the grand hall rather than a clinical looking room as lots of the other venues we looked at.

If after looking at it we decide against it Andy's fave is Comlongon Castle in Dumfries in Scotland if anyone has been there or knows about it we would be glad to hear about it as at the min I think it's probably both our fav and there site is great loads of fabulous photos and the grand hall looks spectacular and the grounds outside too.

I looked at a pattern on EBay for a dress that would look GREAT in that second castle!! You're so lucky, I'd love to be able to get married in a location such a that. Unfortunatly, they don't have any locations such as that one, in New Olreans, LA USA. LoL...
Best wishes!!

Ahhhhh yes but in america not sure about new orleans they do fairee or renaissance fairs and some of the static ones do civil ceremonies to a back drop of a camelot style castle I know becasue i found a similar park over here in Lancashire that also does it its actually called camelot world or something similar lol.
You would be amazed where you can get married these days and I have found America tends to far more options for outside venues which is something we would have loved to have done but with a medieval theme.
I love looking at all the wedding dresses and items on Ebay lol.

Well a quick update over venue options. Realistically I think we had talked ourselves out of Tutbury but as the weekend arrived decided that the opening day would still be a good day out to take the kids for easter Sunday.
Well nice cute village surroundings and some of the views are breathtaking and we both love being outdoors and in the countryside but we both new it just wasn't for our special day so now we are down to our last option Comlongon Castle and both of us are excited about it and today Andy heard from one of the haulier contractors and he got married at the Comlongon about 2 years ago and said its amazing so Andy is now exctied about getting up there to view it ourselves so hopefully Andy's parents are going to have the girls for us one weekend so not only can we go and look at the casetle and talk to the organiser but we can do some walking while we are there too so pack our salamans and waterproofs and maps yipppeeeeeeeeeeee.
Due to work commitments and pre-organised stuff doesn't look like we can go and have a look until May well its Andy's birthday on the 7th so I think that weekend would be good seeing as his birthday pressie is a new pair of walking boots and a wind proof fleece he was drooling over in the christmas sales omg its been hard hiding that from him for last couple months lol.

Thought I'd answered this. I know I thought how lovely the second link looked and started to say so. God I must be losing the plot. Anyway I'll say it now both look lovely but Comlongon Castle has the more informative website so I like the look of that one. It hsa a lovely big fireplace like our venue. I love big fireplaces!

Looks fab! Both Al and I love castles, hence getting married in a Castle Hotel in Scotland ourselves (but a teeny weeny one).

I don't know your venue but I have been to Dumfries many times and loved it. Dumfries is so easy to get to as well, especially from the Midlands.

Edinburgh also has some gorgeous castles although I get the impression you've checked them out already during your net surfing.

that you love it in real life and can get it when you want.

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.
