Exclamation HELP!!

How far can the average wedding dress be taken in for sizing??
I am finding many dresses on the internet that are absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The only thing is, I want to buy it a little big so I can have it sized to fit, perfectly! So how many sizes can you nomally take in a dress??

Thanks in advance for your help.

And yes, I'm a newbie!

Mine is going to have to be taken in about two sizes...noone has said it will be a problem yet, but I'd better wait til my first fitting on 2 April before I confirm that!

Welcome to Groovy!

it really just depends on the style of the dress and if there is boning and that. They just have to make sure it will still look the same after it is taken in. I'd take a picture of the dress to who you want to take it in and they will beable to tell you whether its possible or not.
I had mine taken in quite a bit and she jsut had to be careful about the boning.

Welcome to groovy by the way!

it depends how good and "professional" the seamstress/dressmaker is and how complicated the style of the dress is. i know i will have to have mine taken in quite a bit as i plan to lose lots of weight for my wedding. most of the dresses can be taken in 2 or 3 sizes. it depends on boning/beading/inner built corsets etc

& to groovy

Mine could only be taken in 5 inches 2.5 each side (which i managed to achieve!! ) otherwise it would have spoilt the bodice of the dress not sure how much that is in dress sizes I agree with the girls about showing a pic to a seamstress / dressmaker and see what they say as they will have the best idea.

good luck
love

I still have a year...but I'm seeing so many beautiful dresses online. I just don't want to pass mine up. But a year is a long way off for it just to sit there...
I just KNOW when I get the dress and the location booked, It'll be beyond real. And I can't wait for that feeling!!!
