Default Marriage Licence

I am Church of England and my H2B is Roman Catholic. We are getting married in a Church of England church. Can anyone tell me how i go about getting a marriage licence and how soon before the wedding i need to enquire about it. Any other info regarding this would be most appreciated too.

don't know where you are located but here you make an appointment at motor vehicle and get it there. They jsut basically go over a few things with you and then you'll all set.

I think if I'm right with C of E you just do everything through the vicar.

We have booked the church but had to do it through the church committee as at the time they didnt have a vicar

I think i will have to ring the church and see if they now have a vicar and make an appointment to see him so that i can discuss things like this. Thanks for your info, greatly appreciated.

Hi Linda

I am a registrar of marriages and the answer to your question is..... You must do you licence with the vicar at the church of Englad church. If you were getting married in a Roman Catholic church then you would go to your local Register office to give a Notice of Marriage. You must arrange with your vicar when he would like to see you. Normally it is about 6 weeks before.
I hope this has answered your question.

Good luck with your wedding

Carli
