When to send invites? - Wedding Forum

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering what you all thought about when is a good time to send invitations out?

I've read that the 'typical' time is 6-12 weeks before the wedding, but lots of people keep asking me when exactly ours is so I feel as though I maybe ought to send them out sooner.

I haven't sent save the date cards and, with it being in August, some people might be on holiday.

When did you/ are you send/going to send yours?

Hi Rach

We are 6th August, and we are going to send out our invites at the end of April / beginning of May. I think when you get married in the wedding season, and in August you should give more than 12 weeks notice if possible, as people book holidays or commit to other weddings.

I think we sent ours out about 3 months before the wedding Rach - but I suppose if people are asking, and like Rools has said - August is a popular holiday season - then there is no harm in sending them out sooner.

We are 6th August and we are hoping to send them out within the next couple of weeks. We were just a bit worried that a lot of people might be away in August so want them sent a.s.a.p.

Thanks you lot. I think you're right, August is a popular time for holidays and I already know of some people who can't come because they've already booked their holiday.

I think I will send them out at the end of April aswell.

I'd better get making them now! I bought most of the bits and pieces for making them yesterday. They're going to be very simple: cream pearlescent card folded in the style of an envelope with a bright pink thin ribbon threaded through and tied in a bow on the front.
