Question hmmmm am i actually abnormally stoopid?!

Hi guys,

As with most things it appears I have no idea about some wedding things....can you help?

1. is it okay for us NOT to have a "first dance" but just to have everyone in bridal party start with us too - cant bear the thought of it!

2. who do you send wedding cake to? People who were invited and couldnt come / people who gave presents and idnt come what?!

3. We have pressies for ushers, best man, parents and bridesmaids - is that it? Is it okay to just hand them out during the night and say TQ during the speeches - seriously honest opinion needed)

4. we couldnt afford "reportage" photographers so do you reckon our mates will do a decent job given a couple of disposables ??? (also have them on each table) (p.s our mates are normal unlike moi!)

5. did anyone else get presents from people theyve never met / who arent invited to wedding but know your parents etc - sending out TQs but feel cheeky just accepting all this stuff - no choice though i guess but some people have been waaaaaaaaaaay to generous in this way.!

Thanks guys - i think i was at the back of the clue when the rules of wedding ettiquette and TTC (see other posts) were handed out?!

aya chuck not sure how much help i can be but here goes!
* i know lots of people who didnt do a first dance on their own just coz they were crappin it!!! so if you dont want to do one..... dont!!!!

*brians brother who got married a couple of weeks ago sent wedding cake to the people who had an invite but sent back an rsvp saying they couldnt make it.

*they handed out the prezzies (same people as youve mentioned!) during the grooms speech, plus a few others who had helped so much...inc me! yipeeee!!!

*i reckon if you tell people to take some nice piccys they will happily oblige ya, with the disposable cameras, we took some looooovley ones!!!

*if people want to buy prezzies... let em!!! the more the merrier! ( ima bit too honest aye!)

i hope ive been even a little bit of help me luvley!!. much love, xxx

1. Yes though you might find that the sods who promised to get up on teh floor for the first dance with you, don't!

2. Erm, no one as far as i remember

3. Yes, we didn't do this during the speeches

4. yes, we had cameras on the tables and it worked brilliantly! They gave us a really good view of the evening from the guests point of view and were hilarious. We did a wee rhyme to paste on teh back of them to make sure they were used and returned

5. yes, loads of friends of our parents gave us stuff

hope that helps
Rxx

ok pretty much agree with the others
especially the first dance thing (no way was I doing that)
though my disposable cameras were a wee bit crap I would suggest asking a responsible person to just take a few with a decent camera. (we seem to have lots of cleavage shots etc of maybe thats just our friends)

Its fine not to have a first dance if you don't want to. We did have a first dance but got people to join in half way through the song as we didn't want to be there all on our own. You don't have to have one at all if you don't want.

We did'nt send out wedding cake to anyone after the wedding. We just didn't think of it. We did give out a bit to some of my parents neighbours and then to our family and saved some for ourselves too. I took some down to the bridal shop on the Monday after the wedding as they had been so lovely. If you are going on honeymoon straight after though you might need to delegate this to someone else.

We gave out our pressies to the wedding party and said thank you during the speaches which were at the end of the meal. You can do what you like though.

Asking your friends and family to take photos is great. We did this too and got some great photos. We put disposable cameras on the tables with a little poem asking everyone to use them. They were'nt great quality though. On our information sheet we asked everyone who took photos if they could get us a copy and got some fab photos from them. Might be worth asking guests to do that or if you have a camera, giving it to someone you trust and asking them to take lots of photos during the day. We gave our digital camera to my sisters boyfriend and he got lots of piccies for us.

We did get a few presents from people we didn't really know like friends of our parents but most of them had come to the wedding. It did seem a bit strange but we sent out thank you's to them.
