My fiance (Sean) and I are planning to get married in June 2006 in Malta and were looking for any handy hints, tips etc from people who have gone to Malta/abroad to get married

We are planning on getting married abroad but not Malta.

I went to the library and got loads of travel books and wedding books. The one I found very helpful was Getting married abroad : the complete guide to wedding packages by Amanda Statham.

Hiya and welcome to Groovy.

Congratulations on your forth coming wedding.

I'm really sorry, but I too got married in the UK, therefore unable to offer advice on marrying abroad.

Good luck to you though, and enjoy your planning.

Speak soon, love Karen xxxx

Talking Congratulations

I am currently arranging my own wedding in Malta (April 2006) - here are some sites I have found useful:

http://www.mjha.gov.mt/services/marriageregistry.html - gives legal details

Wedding planners/packages:

http://www.wayoutweddings.com/maltawed.htm
http://www.distantweddings.com/Default.asp?page=20

General useful stuff:

I hope these help.

Default weddings abroad

Hi,
Good luck with you wedding in Malta.
I went to Malta once many years ago, and we was thinking about getting married there too. But saw too many negative write ups on their hotels on the holiday truth.com site
And as I am C of E and hubby is Catholic, they wanted me to change MY religion to get married in Malta.

So we went to Cyprus and I am so glad we did, it is no2 destination to get married abroad and about 4 for honeymoons.
We are planning to return at the end of the year, I got married one month ago.

All the best with your planning.

K

Cool

I have finally finalised my details.

I am getting married at the Ta Cenc hotel in Gozo on 06/04/06 http://www.vjborg.com/tacenc/photos.shtml (there website isn't that good, but the wedding arranger sent me other pictures, in which it looked lovely).

I am keeping everything small - there are just going to be 13 people all together (including me and my partner). I have rented two villas for all the guests and arranged flights seperately.

After contacting numerous agent sI finally settled on www.wednmalta.com the people there have been amazing so far and have catered for everything I want.

If all goes well I will be having a simply evening wedding in the hotels lovely gardens and then a casual sit down "family" meal.

I'm racing ahead and have even decided my wedding dress, as I want everything to be casual I have actually chosen a bridesmaids dress for my wedding dress, it can be seen on http://www.venusbridal.com/cgi-bin/d...ess=d334ft.jpg (all I have to do now is loose almost 2 stone).

I hope everything's working out ok for you Maryann-Sean and thank you everyone for such a wonderful welcome.

Glad you are getting things all sorted now. Your venue looks out of this world!

We're still very much at the work in progress stage for ours!

Your bridesmaid dress looks absolutely gorgeous too!!

All the best and keep us updated with how things are going
