Default pets

thoses who have pets what are you doing with them while your at your wedding and or away.
wqe have a three year old boxer dog who is our other little baby as well as our son, and he is going to the kennels i fee sad he is goingmthere but i am, told its a very good one and we have been to look at it looks nice the kennels are in side or out depending on what your dog likes there food is surplied although we are taking our own as he has a stricked diet they walk them twice a day aever where is clean and looked after they have 30 dogs up there including their own too and the place is very nice.
they have there own dog beds although we can take our own blankets which we will and they get to see the other dogs during the day and bark away with each other.
i have never left him liek this so i do feel nervouse but i am hopeing he comes back as the same dog
i also have a chinchilla and he is staying with my sister so he is good.
and our fish is going with my son to stay at my mums which is another thread for another time as i am not looking forward to leaving my son as i never have before although he cant wait to stay with nana and be spoilt rotten.
its me who will be heart broken, although like people say its our honey moon and it will be the one time we get to do this together as the holidays we have had and will have in the future will be three of us together.

Lissa I used to take my cats into the cattery when I went on holiday. They had heat pads, lovely bedding and were treated continually with love, care and attention. The cattery was immaculate and the staff were very friendly and reassured me that they would be alright. Im not sure that after heat pads they wanted to come home!

The settling in period took a few days when they returned home, they were a bit clingy. But thats only because they missed me.

It sounds like a lovely place that you've chosen and Im sure that your son will be fine and well looked after. You'll miss him and he'll miss you too but the reunion will be a lovely one on your return. You'll have a wonderful wedding and honeymoon.

Lissa I don't have kids but am exactly the same with my little westie - she was 7 before she ever had to go to kennels and I was worried sick about her. But I came to the conclusion that it's either that or not going on holiday and I love my hols! We took ours to the kennel for a night's practice before going away so that she got used to it. She was fine but very glad to see us when we came back. Your dog will be fine, so try not to worry too much!

As for your son - he'll love being spoiled rotten and will be very excited to see the pressies you bring home for him!!

Enjoy the time you have as just you two.

Is there a local dogsitter in your area?

We have a friend who takes in up to 6 dogs at a time at her house. She's got a huge garden and makes sure the dogs have a lovely long walk twice a day. The owners take their dogs there a couple of times before they go away and to all intents and purposes the dogs seem to have a ball playing together!

Just a thought if you have someone locally who does this. Nicer than a kennels in my honest opinion.

P.S I spoke to my friend today and she said if you do go down this route make sure the dog sitter is fully insured and that they're not exceeding the amount of dogs they're allowed at one time.
