Default Wedding Vows - Your Plans?

Hello, all.

I registered with this forum because one of my projects is a website devoted to wedding vows. I thought I might take the opportunity this forum presents to find out a bit about how you all feel about wedding vows.

Are most of you sticking with traditional vows, or are you going in a more modern direction? Anyone authoring their own vows? Anyone happen to employ another to help them write their vows? How many of you just about forgot to deal with vows as all of the other planning piled up?

Personally, I used fairly traditional vows, updated somewhat by the removal of the "obey" clause, etc. Nothing too earth-shattering, but well-written and aimed at retaining a sense of tradition without seeming dated.

Curious as to how everyone else feels about wedding vows.

Hi,

I'm sticking to the full traditional vows. We are getting married in the local Abbey so it all seems appropriate (think thats how its spelt?)

We had a civil do and the registrar sent us 4 different ones to choose from or said we could write our own. To save all that mucking about we just picked the bits we liked from all four supplied

That is awesome! I love that line.

Mike wants us to write our own and if it is anything like his proposal, I will be in tears.

Our Minister sent us a choice of 3 vows, one very traditional, one all mushy and lovey dovey and a simple one....... my other half prfered the mushy ones so thats what we went for. We still need to sort out the music/songs but we have plenty of time. The Minister did recommend some but we want to see whats available before we decided.
