Question Flower dispute (anyone sharing with another wedding?)

Has anyone had to share the flower organisation with other weddings happening on the same day?

we only found out about three days ago that a booking had been confirmed for a wedding before ours at our synagogue. Since then we had a phone call from the grooms mother who was very agressive and asked what flowers we were having.. we gave her our florists number, which she then called.

Our florist ran through the arrangements, colours and type of flowers and luckily they are having the same colour scheme as us

This is where it gets difficult. We are sharing the cost for what we have already ordered but the grooms mother wants more flowers in more places. Our florist believes that this is unnecessary as she has done many weddings at our venue and knows what is needed and what isnt.

I had a very hysterical MIL2B on the phone who was distraught about this -

1) the grooms mother inferred we would have to pay more for the extra flowers

2) she wants all these extra flowers that we may or may not like

3) that someone else is involved in what we thought was only our decision

I have now spoken to the grooms mother and told her we are not paying extra, that we have to agree what extra flowers they are having and they have to use our florist only (first come first served, and we are not cancelling ours and using another florist!)

she was a bit obnoxious and this was none too pleasant... i dont want any arguments though...

has anyone else had this issue, how should i deal with it going forward?

Saty strong, you were there first, but, think how nice it would be to have lots of flowers around, I'd love to have more than we can!

It shouldn't affect you budget though. If she wants things over and above your budget/ what you'd sorted with your florsit, then she should pay!

Arrow absolutely!

Hi Roz,

Totally agree with you! it is another headache that we don't need right now, so the whole thing is quite frustrating!

i just need to make sure our florist consults with us when she is actually doing the flowers, but the good thing is i trust her 100%!

have a great weekend all!

Can you not just her? She sounds like a right cantankerous biddy! lol

Serious now... if youve decided what you want then stick to it! Tell her you're more than willing to split the cost of that, but anything above and beyond it is her responsibility!

The couple who are getting married before us rang and asked if we wanted to split the cost of the flowers. We had already decided we werent going to have any in the church, but she made me feel so guilty! But i stuck to my guns (maybe she'll leave hers there anyway! lol)

Love Dawn xxx

I would stick to my guns as well.

we are in a simillar situation.

We booked with the church and florist first,(March of last year) and than got an email from the minister in January (great guy) that he had another request for the same day and it was up to us if they could get married on "our day" (isn't he a prince?) So i said sure, no problem as long as... and than listed my demands, cheeky arn't I. I also asked if thay would like to share flowers as my florist is also a friend who would be coming to the wedding, She wanted to be done with the flowers and getting ready for the wedding by 2. (which is when the other wedding starts) so... It would just make it easier on everyone. long story short Bride #2 thew a bridezilla fit and she is not getting married in 'my church' on 'MY day' God I sound awful but what can you do?
first come...
so stick to your guns with all your might.
