First Viewing of venue in Giffnock was bad - Wedding Forum

Hi All,

This is my first posting and unfortunately it is not a happy one. I went to see one of my top two venues tonight to check it out. When I walked in the door I was shocked at how spectacular the venue looked. It had a big sweeping staircase and a huge entrance hall. However I was quickly disappointed when the had messed up my appointment and I got some care taker which could not show me anything. The house had a function on and there was cars everywhere. I was very angry at the mix up and have to chose a venue within the week. I am worried that this would just be the start of a bad experience. However, I think if I had got to see the full house I might have loved it all.

It is a council owned building in Giffnock called Eastwood House. Has anyone on the site heard anything about this venue....? Any information on past experiences even just with East Renfrewshire Councils wedding packages would be great. I had planned on having a civil wedding there and hiring the house for the evening but I am worried it would all go wrong...

I can't help with your query either i'm afraid though i did live in South Lanarkshire for years. Nothing on the net about it?

My wedding was in a very unusual location in the Cairngorms and a year after it, i had a phone call from a complete stranger who had googled for my venue and found my wedding pages with my phone number on them (more fool us!) so he rang for personal feedback. It was somewhat bizarre at the time but i didn't mind a bit.

Long shot but it might be worth googling. Other than that, I dunno. Does the Scottish Wedding Directly host forums nowadays? Or are there any East Renfrewshire community websites with message boards that you could post on?

I was at a wedding in Eastwood House about 2 years ago and it was absolutely incredible. Everything went swimmingly and the service, food, location were fab. It was an ex work colleague of my husband, will try to get an email address for the bride if you want........

That would be great if you could get me an email address. I am going again tomorrow night to see if I can see the rest of the house. I also just found out today I will have to find caterers so I would like to find out what she did about that? Hope you can help - thanks again!
