honest opinions needed
Hello people could use your advise, I was until recently planning to make my own invitations had gone as far as designing them along with the order of service r.sv.p cards etc as I wanted them all to be on a matching theme , I had decided on Charles Renee Macintosh. I was going to use rubber stamps and was actually looking forward to making them. As I am planning wedding things have been going much too smooth for the powers to be and they have decided to throw a spanner in the works.
My extended family are being really helpful with regards to my wedding and my limited budget my uncles is providing cars my aunts are sorting out my dress, flowers and cake and my step mother was going to make my fancies however I had a phone call from my dad who has pleaded with me to let step mother make my invitations as she thinks my family will be slating her on my wedding day as she and my dad haven't helped me pay for anything, my father can't but my step mother could help but won't so this is her compromise.
I know I should stick to my guns
attached are the samples she has sent me what do you all think are they as terrible as I seem to think or am I being prejudiced as I had already designed my own guns and be firm but my younger brother is causing my family lots of grief and I don’t want to add to this .
Can you please vote as to which you think is best or wether i should be firm and do my own thing

 Emma,
hate to sound harsh but.....im not going to look at what they look like as in my opinion its obviousley not what you want and why should it be after you spending the time to design your own. Its your wedding day and part of the enjoyment of planning is doing things how you want to and picking and choosing colours, designs, fabrics etc as you go along. To have the part of you designing your own invites taken away from you would be terrible i think as youll always be thinking to yourself 'mine would have looked better' which by all means from the impression im getting off your thread is what will happen.
I really dont mean to be upsetting you here at all but you did ask for an honest opinion! I would stick to my guns if i were you, how about letting step mum do something lese a bit of a smaller importance to yourself (maybe she can have the rsvp's going to her house) or let her organise something else you havent got around to doing and arent too bothered about doing??
hope this helps and if not hope ive not upset you in any way

Do your own thing - it's YOUR day, not your family's. Please be firm - you have to look back on this day for the rest of your life - it's not your job to keep the peace, if people don't like it, sod them! Sorry if this sounds harsh but, believe me, I'm having more than my fair share of problems as far as my family and future in-laws are concerned and have come to the conclusion that the only people who matter are me and my H2B - it makes it a lot easier - please yourself, not anyone else. Hope this helps......

Stick to your guns sweetie. Go for what you really want. The stationary sets the tone for the entire day and I think your ideas sound lovely. Mackintosh designs are very elegant.
Stand up for yourself - if your step mum wants to help that much then perhaps involve her in making your designs your way.
Good Luck

I Like three - simple and elegant...
I bought mine from studio cards, very inexpensive and personalised!
Only thing is that they all have to be written out -writers cramp lasted for days!

i think this is the best one and have suggested to jenny maybe do it on gold card with a triple mountso there would be a very small red border round the gold in the middle
she has also done an example of what teh place card swould look like. I know they are not what i realy wanted but are they awfull or do they look ok

After looking at them...
I think you should stick to your plan...
make your OWNS!!!
Otherwise maybe I would have chosen the last one (No 6, I s'pose)...
And also I would maybe not tell her where to go, but just that I really, really , really would like to make them myself, :-P...
LoL,
Good Luck,
and don't forget to show us your onwn prototype, ok ;-)
Take care,
X

Hi
I have made my own invites and have to admit that I got a bit fed up with it all in the end. I seem to have been making them for ages. However I am a bit of a control freak and think I might have got a bit stressed it someone else had done them.
How about you show her yours and invite her round to help you make them. I am sure it would be much more fun than doing it on your own? If they want you could even ask them to pay for the matterials you require so at least they can say they paid from them.
I think that if you have something in your mind you should go with that. You might regret it if you do not.
Hope this helps.
Steph
