Default Flowers - can\'t decide

\'ello,

Anyone else stuck for flower ideas - or does anyone have too many ideas more to the point?

Does anyone know the meaning of different colours etc? I love pink but read that pink symbolises infidelity - but not sure what that applies to e.g. dresses, flowers. BM dresses, groom\'s outfits?

Pink roses I think. But i loooove sunflowers too. And Lilies. And freesias. And lily of the valley.

seee....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I\'m a lazy bones when it comes to this stuff - I just trawled the net and all my wedding mags for things I liked and I\'m sending them to my mum to take to the florist. As far as colours went, I just wanted something simple to match the colours of the wedding - purples, lavenders, silver (so white in flower terms). Choosing the flowers themselves was a bit tougher, but I decided on roses because I think you cant go wrong with them - they never look awful, and they are available all year round. I almost went for arum lillies though, but cost put me off. :)

Perhaps looking through wedding mags and websites might help you narrow your choices down a little?

Mel,

If you cant decide why not have them all :lol::lol:

Seriously though I wouldnt worry too much about what signifies what and just go with what you like the look of . Freesias and Lily of the Valleys have gorgeous smell and sunflowers always look fab ! really \'happy\' flowers - but big pink cabage roses look really glam and romantic !! Not a lot of help - just gald I havent got to make up my mind just yet:lol::lol: Go with what you like I say

Just bought CosmoBride as there is a flowers insert this month- but still cant find anything suitable. I\'m looking for dark blue / purple flowers - any suggestions anyone?? Thanks in advance!

Kate,
a flower stall near us has blue roses obviously not natural but they are real - I\'m not sure but I think they put the stems in some sort of dye and the colour is sucked up !! They looked fab. Or what about Irisis or cornflowers they are a gorgeous shade of bluey/ purple

Hello,

I got all my wedding mags out at the weekend (couldn\'t believe how much i\'ve spent on them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Anyhow, I\'ve cut out everything I like bouquet-wise. The one I like the most is made up of sunflowers and some kind of green bits.

I think it won\'t look good with the BM dresses though since they are a primrosey-gold colour.

I\'ve got loads of other options though.

I might just tell my mum to sort it out and surprise me on the day.

But then again.....

Maybe roses.

Mel have you looked at Gerberas? They might be suitable if you like that large daisy style flower, but sun flowers are the wrong colour. They come in loads of different shades. I love them, but not as much as me roses. ;)

Hi Bev,

Bev - I like those too - Ben bought me some orange ones at the weekend to cheer me up over the end of Xmas..

I\'m now thinking of having pretty pink girly roses with lots of foliage and loosely tied. What do you think?

I want a posy rather than a shower, I think. I like the big leaves surrounding bouquets (Aspidistra?) as they give it shape. I like the pampus grassy stuff that makes like a \"force field\" around the top on some posys too.....
I don\'t really know what I want yet - does it show??

It can wait - for a while at least!

ooo! those flowers are so pretty, claire!

I was thinking (here we go again) of adding ivy to mine too, because our house is called Ivy Cottage and we\'ve got loads in the garden.

We might use it as table decorations too..

Roz - why aren\'t you worried and I am - your wedding\'s only one day after mine!!!

I don\'t know why I\'m not worried (although now it\'s \"less than 6 months\" and people keep telling me how excited I must be and what a special year this is, I do wonder!!)
I\'m doing a lot of this long distance (although not as long as Bev!!) so it\'s quite easy to forget about! We did go and see one florist when I was last home but i need to do lots more research before we can book anything...

I do think I probably need to spend some quality time on the phone to the hotel - maybe this lunchtime...try and sort some bits and bobs out!

And see if i can persuade Chris to ring the registry office (you\'d think we\'d have sorted that wouldn\'t you?) for the Friday...so actually Mel, really, we\'re getting married on the same day, I\'m just doing it all again the next day!

I think I\'m going to go for a posy too, but I think I prefer the hand-tied sort, as I\'m having a civil ceremony I thought the shower bouquets may be a little ott, however Clare, that picture looks lovely. Can\'t really decide (I seem to be having an awful lot of trouble making any decision at the moment) - think I\'m going to be keeping my flowers white and introducing pink to the BMs. Was thinking of a combiantion of lily of the valley, rosemary and roses.... Who knows.... guess I should make a decision soon as there is only 3 months to go until the big day....agrhhhhhhh

Thanks for the stars Roz - you\'ve made my day..

Em, I\'m after something a bit less formal too, I just liked the general idea and the colour of the roses and the berries. I\'d like a bit more green stuff in it too..

Mel,

Think we\'re after a pretty similar sort of thing. Here\'s hoping our florists can interpret what we want!

Em - I think you\'re right...

I guess using expressions like \" more green stuff in it\" won\'t help a florist that much.

I have loads of cuttings here from flower mags that I can upload - Mark is building his empire at the moment, but as soon as he is done on that computer I\'ll scan the pics in a put them up in this thread for you all. :)
