Question hair and make up advice please

My mum found someone to come to the hotel on the big day to do my hair and make up. For me and 2 BMs it was £300. Im a bit thick when it comes to this stuff but isn't that a bit too pricey? How much should I expect to pay? If this is the average price i'm in trouble cause I can't really afford that!! Any ideas on how I can save money????

What sort of hair styles were you looking at? Could you do it yourselves if they weren't too hard? I'm in Oz so I don't know how much that is. You've got enough time so shop around and you might find something cheaper.

Hi Angel,
Well I am not sure where you are getting married but I notice you live in Scotland so is it a local hotel to Aberdeen?
I am getting married in a castle in between Gretna Green and Dumfries and there is a lady that comes to the castle and for hair and make up for a Bride is about £55 and about £42 for a Bridesmaid over 12. If i only have our hair done it then works out £29 for a Bride and £25 for a Bridesmaid over 12.
I have looked around the local area as I was considering going to a hairdressers as this way I could go up maybe a month before hand and have a trail done and for hair up it can cost anything from £25 to £35 for a Bride and £20 to £30 for a Bridesmaid.

I would check if the £300 is purley for on the day or does it allow for a trail aswell?
Also people vary alot in there costs if they are travelling to you rather than you just going to a local hairdresser which ussually works out a lot cheaper but obviously can be time consuming and depends what time of day your getting married.
Good luck

That does sound like quite a lot. I paid about £170 for me, my 2 bridesmaids and my mum to have our hair and make up done on the day. It included a trial for me a few weeks before as well.

I am from Scotland but now live just outside London so have an idea on prices in both areas and that does sound expensive.

Itd definately be worth looking around.

That sounds extortionate to me and especially for Scotland. I'd shop around a bit

Its £50 each for hair and make up for the trial and then another £50 each on the day. Im not sure exactly what I want yet but it'll just be something very simple. Im not very girlie neither are my BMs so doing it ourselves would be a nightmare. Im going to look around for a better deal so if anyone knows of anyone in the sberdeen area please let me know thanx,

Well i finally managed to find someone to do the hair and make up for £200 which I still think is too high but im running out of time. One of the BMs has refused to have her hair up (aparently this is a phobia of hers!!) I dont want to force her but BM no 2 really wanted hers up so I left them to fight over it themselves lol. so now they are having their hair down with a diamante alice band and Im going to be saving money on the hairdresser (yay!!)
The thing is she was going to charge me £90 for a trial and theres no way I can afford it cause Im SERIOUSLY overbudget as it is, she suggested I just take my tiara, veil and any other hair accessories I have and she will try out a few styles on the day. What kind of accessories should I take? I have no idea. I just want a simple half up half down do

My bridesmaids did their own make up and I found a local salon which put their hair up in pinned curls for £10 each, and I went for the trial for them and it cost £10 too. I had 8 bridesmaids so it was great that they were at the salon cos it would have been too hectic having them at the house. Whilst they were waiting to have their hair done they did their own make up, so by the time they got to mine they just had to put their dresses on and the timings were really good. My own hairdresser came to the house and did my hair for free and my make up lady cost £18 for two trials and £15 to come to the house on the day. She is self employed and works from her own house.
I think those prices are extortionate, could you not suggest that the bridesmaids do their own make up to save a little money? My bridesmaids paid for their own hair, although it wasn't expensive everything was just adding up and we couldn't afford the extra money. Or maybe they could go to a make up counter and get a free make up trial/lesson before the big day?

I'm paying £130 to have my hair up including trial and having my make up done at House of Frisure counter. They do 3 trials and make-up on the day for free! Paying£25 per head for the bridesmaid and they are all doing their own make-up.
