Default Invitation Info - Advice needed - Long!

Well we are going to my HB's friends wedding in a couple of months. We received the invitation yesterday which was very nice. However this wedding is about a 2 and a half - 3 hour drive away from us and we will also be celebrating our first wedding anniversary that weekend. We are keen to make a weekend of it - so need details on hotels etc. They sent a sheet of hotels to us, however there is no indication of prices, or distance from the hall where the reception is being held.

The wedding and reception appear to be in different villages and I am not familiar with the area at all. They have not provided any directions or map either. It will also be bank holiday weekend so I am keen to get it all booked up. Obviously we don't want to be miles from the reception because of taxi's etc.

Do you think that I am expecting them to provide too much information? I included all of this information to my guests as a lot of them were travelling to be at the wedding. Again, a lot of people will be travelling to be at this wedding. I just feel that the info is a bit thin on the ground and I don't have a lot of time to do all of the relevant research because my new job is so demanding and I work evenings and weekends on that.

As they are my husbands friends and not mine it's not like I can just phone them for details, and my husband doesn't really ask all of the right questions. Besides, I am sure that they are busy enough as it is without guests bothering them about accommodation arrangements.

What do you think that I should do? Bite the bullet and phone them?

Any advice greatly appreciated

Aye - I would give them a call. After all, if they're your hubby's friends they are also your friends now
And it's definitely best to know what's what in advance rather than booking something on spec and then being disappointed.

Just my tuppence worth!!

For what it's worth I've had my h2b's relatives phoning me about wedding arrangements and I didnt mind a bit

Try searching www.activehotels.com if you put the location in it'll tell you how far away the hotels are and how much. HTH

Hello,

Thanks for all the advice. Actually phoned last night and was given a few suggestions. Didn't like to bother them but they didn't seem to mind. They suggested this really lush hotel if we want to celebrate our Anniversary in style - phoned them and managed to get the rate down to £290 for 2 night stay. Still don't think that we can afford it though because we have bought a new car and we are going to Florida. I'm still thinking about it though... May just go for the cheaper option £60 a night because I'll still be in good company and that's what couts.

What do you think of the hotel?

Not sure if this will work as a link - you may have to cut and paste it in the browser

You can get tickets for afternoon tea which is £25 so might do that instead, as the wedding doesn't start until 2pm. What do you think?
