I wear glasses. I am very short sighted. I have tried contact lenses twice, but my eyes just won't tolerate them.
The glasses I wear are dary red plastic frames, funky for everyday, although I feel that they aren't feminine enough to go with my gorgeous dress etc.
I am contemplating buying a pair of glasses I have seen that are half rimless. They are a pale pink metal colour at the top and sides, and rimless at the bottom. They will cost me over £300 as my prescription is so srtong, and the lenses will come out fairly thick (which is why I usually wear the plastic frames-to hide the thickness of the lenses). However, they are more feminine than my current frames, and show my gace better.
I'm not sure what to do. I don't have much choice as to whether I actually wear glasses or not, although I guess I could slip them off for some of the photos. However, I may not be able to see the camera lens to look into!!!
Dilemma!!

I know where your coming from both myself and my partner wear glasses and so do my daughters and 1 of them suffers with an outward squint too.
I am lucky with the fact my vision isnt that bad so I have decided not to wear my glasses during the service and photos but will probably put them back on during the meal otherwise i'll end up with a monster headache.
Andy is going to wear his they are half and half frames with thick plastic on the top.
The girls have decided they will wear there glasses for most of the day apart from the photos as there vision isnt so good and like you there lenses are quite thick so they can only wear full frames.
Have you tried your dress on with your glasses? I would sudjest trying to take a picture of you with your glasses on and without them and see if you feel you can focus properly without them or not.
How long ago did you wear contacts? have you thought about wearing a disposable pair just for the day?
I wear glasses too, although Im contemplating getting contact lenses. I have the same problem as you. I wanted rimless too but my lenses are about 6mm thick.
Maybe you need to ask the optician just how thick the lenses would be and show you examples, or try some fine metal rims rather than the rimless type. Maybe try lots of opticians too.
The thing I'd be concerned with if you take your glasses off for the photos is the two red blotches at the top of your nose where they sit! Sorry, another dilemma to add to already hundreds of wedding dilemmas!
I hope that you manage to sort something out.

My lenses are going to be about 4mm thick. I just worry that the half 'n'half glasses are going to look clumsy with the thick lenses. I don't fancy full metal frames.
I think I will take a risk with this one and go ahead and order them. If the worst comes to the worst and they look dreadful, I'll then have a very expensive pair of emergency glasses, something which I don't have now!

just as a point, I wear specs and decided not to on my wedding day cos i don't need them to 'see' if that makes sense. However apparently cos my eyes are used to focussing with them my eyes involuntarily close slightly more when not wearing them to protect from the camera flash etc. My photographer explained after that this led to on some of the photos my eyes are really 'slitty'
just worth pondering x

I'm fortunate to be able to wear contacts but my lenses are about as thick as yours on one eye in particular. Always narks me that you see all these free frames sales & that's all well & good but as you say by the time you've paid through the nose for the thinner lenses it's £300!!!
I'd probably go with the expensive frames

I wear glasses everyday too. I've been thinking for a while of getting new specs for my wedding - called into Boots the other day and spotted totally rimless ones.
Tried them on and they look a lot less 'obvious' than my regular specs. I too have a fairly strong prescription, but they can really thin down the lenses these days - for a price!- so that's what I am going for.
Have asked around and they can do just about any strength of lens in the thinner version which is good for rimless/half-rim lenses
Good luck with whatever you do
btw, being a cheapo, I am holding out for their free prescription sunglasses deal to get those for the honeymoon too!!

I have ordered the half rimless frames!! I am a bit wary that the lenses, particularly the right, will come out a bit thick. However, in the photos this shouldn't show as it would only be noticable if looking at them side on.
Have to anxiously wait to see what they will turn out like.

I have a pair of half rimless, and also another pair of completely rimless. I think they are both nice, however I try not to wear them if I don't have to because I have this silly idea in my head that in the long run they will make my eyes worse.
My prescription doesn't sound as bad as yours as I can get away with standard lenses. I chose to go without on the day because I don't wear them all the time so am used to being almost blind!
I think that you have made a good choice with half rimless, I'm sure they will look lovely.
Yes, had thought of letting the photographer know not to do any close up side shots of me. Was going to mention this anyway as I have a birthmark on the left side of my neck which I don't want photographed.
Poor man won#t have any angle options left soon!!
