Well if i was getting married again i would take out insurance, we didn't and we lost our booking at a hotel in teh lake district, so for peace of mind i would say go with the insurance

To be honest I didn't even think about wedding insurance when we got married but in hindsight I think it's a very good idea.
I've seen too many stories about venue's double booking and bandits taking money without producing the goods but I suppose that's the peril of perusing wedding web sites.
Worth it if you can get a relatively good value policy. I wouldn't pay more than £100.00 though.

We never bothered with insurance. We kept thinking about it but by the time we actually got around to sorting it out, it was so close to the wedding that we didn't bother.
I've heard some horror stories too about venues double booking, closing down or deciding to renovate just before the big day. I've also heard of quite a few people that have paid for things that have never been delivered.
I think insurance is a very good idea and there some reasonable policies around. I think M&S do one for less than £50.
In hindsight we were very lucky in that we didn't need insurance but we should have got our backsides into gear and got it really just in case.

I think it's a good idea. I know someone whose venue closed after their stationary had been printed and the insurers paid for new stationary so well worth it in their case.

We've got wedding insurance, I *think* it was about £50/56 (one off payment, I think you have to take the policy out no more than 2 years before your wedding and no less than 3 months before)- wasn't much more than that anyway and it was from Marks and Spencers. Although we have not had to use it for anything it is reassuring to have it there as a falback should anything not go to plan.
We had insurance - from Debenhams I think - but I'm a cautious person by nature anyway and things are so expensive if you have to cancel or if anything went wrong.
This may sound awful but we were also mindful that we had some very close elderly relatives alive at the time and we may have had to cancel/reschedule if something had happened to any of them close to the wedding.

I always think if I can afford to lose the money I don't bother with insurance - but once it gets to apoint where I couldn't afford to pay it out again - then I get insurance! (I once got burgled without insurance and it's no fun!!).
Mine was a one off payment - I went for a higher rate premium as it gave more cover (our meal and hotel is quite pricey). It was a one off payment of about £90.
I got it as just before I paid the first deposit for anything) which was about 18 months before the wedding. It's valid for cancellation from then until the day so that's good.
I'd rather be safe than sorry - I can just about afford £90 but couldn't afford to lose the money from all my deposits, etc. if something awful happened.

We got it form M&S for £54. We thought it was woth it because my little boy has been spending time in hospital with kidney probs so we cant be sure it wont happen near to the wedding. As he is a member of the wedding party we would be covered if we have to postpone.
we had insurance for our wedding 4 years ago. I personally think when your paying such a lot of money for one day the extra £100 for insurance is nothing compared to loosing 10-15k !! if anything went wrong.
The policies usually cover you for alot of things aswell. We went for the top cover but cant remember how much it was.
