I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.

its for the buttonholes of the men wearing kilts. Got to order them tomorrow and I like the heather on its own especially since the purple is our theme but the thistle and heather together is more traditional.

Go with whatever you prefer and fits your theme - just pick and choose the trraditions you like and then sod the rest.

I'd go for the heather...but will it alienate any relatives who may think it is not the done thing etc?

I like both. I love the simpleness of the heather but the other one says Scotland to me

From the pics i'm liking the look of the heather on it's own better but I suspect that's more because it's a crisper photo (and taken closer up) - I reckon thistle.
