Default Sixpence in shoe???

Am I losing my mind or is there a superstition about the bride wearing a sixpence in her shoe?
I thought it could cover 'OLD & BORROWED'.

Placing a silver sixpence in the bride's left shoe is a symbol of wealth. This is not just to bring the bride financial wealth but also a wealth of happiness and joy throughout her married life.

and erm bunions

I know it's part of the same rhyme:

Something old,
Something new,
Something borrowed,
Something blue,
And a silver sixpence in her shoe.

So if you want wealth, without the bunions you could always tape it to the underside of the shoe.

I am going for the tradition of a sixpence. But not in my shoe! That would kill my feet! So I am going for a sixpence in my garter
