Mine are getting back to normal now, I use the Sally Hanson nail hardener and some other stuff to rub onto the nail itself and they are getting there!!

well done to you all! can i just ask are you all planning on not wearing extensions on your big day? if not why dont you get some gel nails done (about a month before your day) without any type of extension. The gel is just like a coating over your nails and is unbreakable or chippable so your nails will grow nicely underneath without being damaged. Then for your big day get them removed about 5 days beforehand and a manicure done about 2 days before then your nails will be lovely and natural for the day! Or you could just have your gel maintenanced a few days before the wedding and have a nice colour painted on or the french manicure look and it will be permanant for about 2 weeks after (ideal for honeymoon). Not sure on how much these cost as i dont know your areas but may be worth a try to stop having nails breaking on you!

the gel is an enhancement to the nails and does cost im afraid fran! not as much as extensions but will still about 25 pounds i imagine. Its basically a few coatings of gel over your nails to protect them whilst they grow underneath its cured by uv lamp so once on its stuck so it wont chip or fall off (as long as done properly mind) or snap any of your nails at all. Its an organic product with no odour (like the acrylics) and lasts about 2 weeks when you need them touching up because your nail would have grown. You can get a colour gel or french manicure which will be permanant as long as you want it to be and it looks really nice as it doesnt scratch at all.
hope this helps!! if your looking to not spend too much id advice a manicure a few days before the big day or if you have them regulary you could get away with having one the day before.
Does help, I have nails that are growing back again after falling back to my bad old ways of when one breaks, I bite it occasionally, so I have weaknesses in my nails, but they are getting there again! I may have the gel to strengthen them again, see if that helps!
Thanks again!
Fran

Hmph, don't TALK to me about nails ! Just as I get them all quite long and looking nice I manage to snap or snag one.
Collette, I wish you didn't live so far away - I NEED YOU!!! If my nails are okay for the wedding I'll just have a manicure but if they look pants, I'll go for the extensions probably.

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.
Mine just keep breaking all the time! But suppose thats another excuse not to do the washing up... "my nails wont take it darling, you'd better do it!" lol
I've decided to go for falsies for the wedding, having them done 2 days before by my best mates mum. She runs her own one to one tuition in acrylics, so she should be good! Plus i get "rates for mates" lol
I am a terrible chewer - I bite them down as far as they can go and it looks really disgusting I am trying my best to stop before the wedding, but the nail salon I used to go to specialise in gel extensions for nail biters like me. I will definately have to pay them a visit just before the big day!
rachel&cath: try to stop i know its really hard ive bitten mine all my life and it wasnt untill someone in work said ooooh claire look at your nails arnt your fingers sore !! they look awfull! i thought oh blimey if someone notices like that i think they'll be noticed on the wedding day and would look much nicer just a little bit longer, dont want any comments about my horrible fingers when they are in the limelight all day and now i havnt got the gutz to bite them as they look sooooo much nicer and everyone is now commenting how healthy they look and how nice and white they are on the tips. however i do go through days where i just want to bite them all off but resist the temptation. so go on girls give it a go youll be amazed. mine only took 1 month to grow!
good luck

claire want to come and be my personal advisor for my clients when i get them! thats great what you wrote! I also have bitten my nails all my life (ironic im now specialising in them) but when i got my engagement ring i looked at it an thought it looked horrible with stubbly nails so i grew them it took a while but i did it and they have been long ever since i dont even need to do any extensions on myself!!! the gel is great though as it stops them snapping and splitting at work!
keep it up!!!!
