BM dresses..grr...
Hiya!
I ordered my BM dresses back in October last year! At the time I was told it would take 8 weeks.
They still haven't arrived, but the shop is assuring me they have never let anyone down.
The problem is that I have to get 4 friends from different spots in the UK up to Birminham for their fittings and we've only got 8 weeks left.
That sounds like a long time in many respects, but one of them is very bizarre sizing and we had to order a size 20 for her just because of her hips and bust. The rest of her is about a 14!
So basically, there's a lot of work that still needs doing.
I've called the shop endlessly and they are blaming the supplier. They even told me today that some have arrived that were ordered after mine for a september wedding!!
Any suggestions? Or should I just sit and wait and worry about it all later?

I would be in a BIG flap and would insist that the shop get them in pronto can you get the name of the supplier and call them yourself?

Hi Mel,
If it was me i would get harsher with the shop. They say that they haven't let anyone down, well they are letting you down right now especially as they said they would arrive in the shop 8 weeks after you ordered them, you are now 5 months after that date!!!!
I'm guessing you have already paid a deposit or even paid for them completely by now, which is awful and you should let them know exactly how you feel. Us poor brides from the sound of things take a lot of C*** and stress from our suplliers but we aren't allow to give it back!!!!
It's awful and my heart goes out to you. I would hassle them more rather than sit back and take it, make their lives as difficult as they are making yours at the moment.
Sorry but reading your thread has made me so
I will stop ranting now!!!!
Beeny
P.S. i am a nice person, honest

I say complain!
The question here is what is the bottom line? How close to the wedding are they (and you) prepared to leave it until they take action??
I dont think I would feel very comfortable leaving it any later! After all, in two weeks time there are only six weeks to go etc!!
I know that it is a hassle that you dont need though isnt it??
Hope it works out
Hugs

Its ridiculous!
I ordered my wedding dress two weeks after the BM dresses and that arrived a couple of weeks ago!!!
I've told them that if they don't get back to me tomorrow with a delivery date, then I want the suppliers number and will get in touch directly.
Then I'll have to think of something threatening and scary!
i've paid a 50% deposit so far which amounts to £230. So too much to walk away from.
Its such a bloody pain... but I don't know what more I can do.

errrm...
threaten them with
The Contract (what did the terms and conditions say??)
Watchdog (always works!)
The MGW Team (we will sort em out!)
Legal action???
Or be nice to them, and say that you are genuinely worried and that as you are paying so much then you would like their support?!
Sorry, no help at all really!!

We had a similar problem. I have 5 bridesmaids from 7 years up to 14 years. In October we found the dresses we liked, and placed an order. We were told that as the kids would grow before the wedding to bring them in at the beginning of May. We were told that the dressmaker would order the material in advance, so we would just have to get the measurements. So my mum rang them at the end of April to make an appointment for the fittings, and we were told we were too late!! Apparently the dresses are not made by a local dressmaker as we were told, and that they had reecntly had to turn away someone who was getting married a month after us as the dresses would not be in on time!!!! After a lot of my mum's ranting and raving on the phone, they agreed to put a rush on the dresses (AND my mum had already paid out hundreds in a deposit!), as long as we could get the kids in that week. So we asked when would be a good time - any afternoon they said. What time are you open til? - 4pm!!! The kids finish school at 3.15ish, we couldn't get the kids there til almost 4, let alone have them fitted before they closed!! So we had to get them there at 9.15v on Saturday morning, and all the kids had to miss swimming lessons (which are expensive I might add) as they would not measure them after 10am!!
In the end they said they would try their best to get the order in, but no guarantees!!! So what am I going to do if they can't? I can't believe they didn't phone us or anything to tell us to bring them in!! That would have been several hundred pounds they would have lost...some people huh?
So here is a big from me....I completely understand! Go in there and kick up the biggest stink possible until they do something!

Like eveyone says, the only thing you can do is keep on their case so they realise you're not going away until you get the dresses. Try the nice-nice approach for a day or so, if they don't respond still, time for the

Its awful mella they are quock enough to get us in the doors and take our money and then service seems to go by the wayside. i would keep on there case for a few more days and seem to be reasonable and then like j says get mad as you say you have paid tpp much to walk away but equally time is passing and teh wedding isn't that far away, its easier to write this if it was me i would be screaming down the phone by now

I would be fuming now if I was in in your sittuation!!
Like most people have said, play it nicely for a few more days & then if that's really getting nowhere it's time to get NASTY...... :uzi: Give them everything you've got, and if all else seems to fail then send in :mrt:
Good luck hun, that is no way to treat a B2B, especially as you ordered the dresses in October.. My dress is a BM dress, I ordered it on February 7th and it arrived nearly 2 weeks ago (It took about 12 weeks!)

PS Here's a to help get you through!

hi mella, u must be sooooo
with regrds to the sizing, when i went to a shop to look at dresses for me, i was told i would need a size... get ready..... 28!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was so it would go over my boobs and be taken in elswhere.... when i picked my dress up the other day from the dressmakers, she said it was a 20/22, and it fits perfectly... where do these shops get their measurements and sizing from????????
Anyway, hope u get it all sorted.

I would start off being firm but polite.....I think they've really had enough chances so if that doesnt work ring them EVERY DAY, or better still go into the shop and complain LOUDLY, preferably in front of others......I did that once (not with a wedding related thing) and it certainly got them moving!!

Well would you believe it?!!?
I posted a message grumbling to the hitched gals and then one of them replied saying that she knew the lady in the shop etc.
Then I got a call telling me two out of the 4 have arrived!!
The other two will be in the next shipment - whenever that might be!
But at least I have two. And the two which will need the most alterations.
Looks like grumbling does pay!
