Default long time no see

Hi all I can't believe it's been sooooooo long since I've been here. I have been so busy with work I feel like I haven't even been able to scratch myself. Any way hope everyone is well. I can't believe there are only 10 weeks till the wedding!!!!!! It has gone so fast. Well I better go only another week to go and then I'll be back to normal work hours. Till then

Everything is going well so far, oh except for 1 or 2 things like people inviting other people.

As there are only 6 of us at work i invited everyone. Because non of us have met each others partners, i only invited the work people and they'll fit nicely on 1 table. However when i was talking about the wedding the other week one of them piped up and said yeah i'll probably bring my husband I only put 1 name (theirs) on the invites. Now i'm freaking thinking that she is going to bring her husband when there's no room as we're already over the count. THEN one of h2b family friends (long time family friend) decide that because they won't be coming they'll send their sons girlfriends instead.

Is it just me - or is that crap!!!! I know it will be the same amount of people if they were coming, but we don't know these girlfriends from a bar of soap.

Now i don't know what to do, i don't want to be rude but we could use those seats for another couple as we're currently 15 people over but I couldn't cut the list anymore.

That's crap and out of order. You've invited people you want there to share your day. Had you wanted partners, sons girlfriends etc then you'd have included them. It's a case of putting your foot down and being firm. Last time I got married a friend told me a few days before her partner had to work but it was ok as she'd bring a friend of hers in his place. No way! This friend was someone I knew to say hello to and have a coffee with if we were at the mutual friends house together but that was it. No way was she someone I'd have wanted to share my wedding day with. I just had to be firm and say no, there were friends I wanted there that had to be night do people and so the place would go to one of those, people of my choice and not someone elses

Gosh the cheek of some people, there is no way I'd do that! Weddings bring out the worst in some don't they?!

oooh that brings back memories!!!

I had the same problem as far as a family member dropping out and inviting a cousins girlfriend to take his place without even asking me!! it caused so much agro as i'd never met this girl and he had only been going out with her a few weeks I only actually found out through the grapevine when it was mentioned about her needing to get an outfit for my wedding!! in the end she did come but it caused alot of arguments beforehand! to be honest on the day I couldnt have cared less if she was there or not as I was there with the man I loved and thats all that mattered in the end. But it was the principle of the matter !

as far as the work colleagues go I would deffinately put your foot down there, the cheek of some people, just to assume that her hubby was invited, the least she could do was ask is it just individuals or are partners allowed to attend without just assuming it? I would firmly say that unfortunately the partners are not able to come to the daytime event due to a restriction in numbers and there is no room (if you are having a nighttime do you could always compromise and say they can come to that?!?)

Stand your ground Angel its your day and you invite who YOU want to

good luck

I agree with the others - it's your day and you should invite who YOU want to. Good luck!
