We\'re having the wedding at my parents\' house. Will be very informal - we\'re having a bbq lol Guests can wear jeans - no ceremonies or fancy stuff - just the minister marrying us then everyone eats, drinks and is merry :D

Although we are getting married in a hotel (in TOrquay with stunning views of the bay), we\'re having what I suppose could be called a humanist wedding, very simple, saying the words we like, and doing the legal bit the day before. Chris\' Godfather will be our celebrant and there will be nothing much traditional about most of the day, except my dress, it\'s the one time I get to wear a big girly flounce so I\'m determined to do it with style and a cherry on top! ;)
Hope everybody\'s days go well, and I bet they\'re all different in some way...
Love

We\'re also having a hotel wedding. Although we are both Catholics, due to the organising it from overseas thing we figured it would just be so much easier to have a civil service. It will be held ina hotel on The Isle of Wight - we don\'t have any links there, I just love the place, as do my parents, and we thought it would be much nicer than staying in London.
We\'re hoping it will start on the Thursday with as many people as possible meeting up to have a few drinks with us. The wedding is on the Friday, and then we are hoping to have brekky with everyone the next day. I know some friends have already said that they intend to make a weekend of it. :)
It does seem all pretty straight forward, but we\'re working on ways to make it a bit unique for our guests (best mate suggested juggling midgets, and even more worringly knows where he can find some!! :o ). As soon as we have any clue what we\'re going to do we will post it all here. :)

We are getting married in my mums local Methodist Church and having our reception at Scalford Hall. We are actually theming the wedding around Shakespeare as I love that kind of stuff. On all the tablesthere will be his sonnets written out. and instead of table numbers we are going to have names of his plays and on the back of it will be written the most famous act from that play.
It should be fun. My H2B refussed to be dressed like an elizabethan male though :D

Karen that sounds excellent! We did briefly consider (ok, I considered) doing something themed around Iron Maiden - the band, not the torture device! H2B works or them and thats how we met, but he was not enthused by my plot. ;)
We are planning on giving our tables names though, possibly based around Harry Potter a month till the movie comes out whoo hoo!). We\'ll see if we can be bothered nearer the time though. ;)

We are getting married in a small hotel, which used to belong to Ian Gillan from Deep Purple and has a guitar shaped swimming pool!
Keeping it a very simple and small wedding, however have decided to have a hog roast for the evening food, something a bit different, anyone else doing the same?

Getting married in the same place as Bev. It isn\'t as dull as she makes out, and is actually where Lord Tennyson used to live, so it does have a link with history and is really pretty too!

Although we are not having anything particularly funky as a venue - we are getting married and having reception in an 18th century Manor House - we are having some unusual things during the ceremony.
I am walking in to \"Isn\'t she lovely\" by Stevie Wonder, and we are walking out to \"I feel good\" by James Brown.
We are having a 3 tier CHOCOLATE:yes: wedding cake - Yum Yum!!
And our reception is going to be a big 70\'s revival, complete with mirror ball and H2B in white suit (Think John Travolta in Saturday night fever!).
Ooohh! Can\'t wait!!

Lynsey - have posted a topic in Chi Chat for you. ;)
Kerri - sounds fab! Currently thinking of getting a giant Connect 4 to keep the drunks amused (I mean my mates, ahem) for the evening. Don\'t know what we are doing cake wise yet - Mum is sorting that out. Not having choccie just because I will end up with it all over my dress - yes I really am that messy. It\'s not my fault, my boobs get in the way and catch all the crumbs. :(

We are getting married in North Queensferry overlooking the river Forth. Scott proposed @ Blackness Castle (complete with ring and everything) which stands on the Forth so we thought it was kinda appropriate! Scott is a helmsman on the local lifeboat so the crew have threatened us with setting off flares and marroons when we are pronounced husband and wife !!

We\'re thinking about buying all our day guests (about 50 of them) a lottery scratch card each. Just thought it was something a bit different :D:D

Old Topic, new reply!
Hmmm, I think I have a habit of digging up old topics that everyone else has forgotten (but I am new!).
I just had to take the chance of being able to talk about my wedding without everyone saying \'yes, we\'ve heard it all before!\'.
H2B and I are both Christians, so we will be getting wed at the church where we met. :saint: I am a bit of a non-conformist at heart, so I am walking down the aisle to \'I\'m feeling good\' by Nina Simone. It has the lyrics
\'it\'s a new dawn, it\'s a new day, it\'s a new life for me, and I\'m feeling good\'
so we thought it was appropriate! We are walking out to Star Wars, as I am a huge fan, and it just suits the really triumphant mood so well!
My dress is silver/grey and has a tulle embroidered coat, so I won\'t look like the bride from the top of the cake (which is my nightmare!) and H2B is wearing an \'Ozwald Boetang\' Suit (reduced from £1100 in the sale to £350!) which is purple and cool!
Our reception is at a golf club, as the unusual hotel we fell in love with messed us about too much (ah well!) but we intend to put our mark on it! (any ideas of how to do so will be gratefully accepted!)
Hope you all weren\'t just bored to tears by that!

Martha that sounds fab! I like the Star Wars bit - we\'re currently thinking about Beautiful Day by U2, we want up beat rocky music, cheery stuff. It\'s definately NOT a formal occasion for us. :)
Purple suit, I am SO jealous. But Mark is wearing a purple shirt and tie (there is a piccie on the main forum, chit chat). And at £158 for the suit, shirt, tie and shoes, I\'d say we did pretty well too. :)

Martha, have you heard the Muse version of feeling good? I love it!! (went to school with the Muse boys so maybe biased, but I think it\'s a really good adaptation of a classic.
I think I might walk out to James Brown - I feel good. Don\'t know what we\'ll have before, probably something nice and calming like some motets or ancient music of some sort...
I quite like \"your song\" at the moment too - Elton John or Ewan Mc Gregor, depending...hmmm.
Can\'t really beat a helicopter though!! C\'s parents had one at their wedding - that\'s what happens when your mum is being wooed by someone in the RAF!!
Enjoy your plans!

We\'re having a civil ceremony in a national trust property - trying to work out music at the moment - and am having huge problems coming up with something. We\'re having a string quartet - however I don\'t really want them to play traditional classical tunes. We are thinking of walking out to Yellow Submarine, sounds very amusing on strings!
Roz, that muse song is great - I almost (not quite sure) think that it is better than the original...

Nothing spectacular about the venue or unusual to be honest, a really nice (and small) hotel in Brecon.
I\'m being the unusual one, H2B is in the Army and is wearing his uniform, including his Beret, I\'ve gone for that colour for my wedding dress and the two bridesmaids will be the ones in cream/Ivory!!!
I\'ve never really wanted to wear white, plus it\'s saved me money as the dress I\'ve seen is a Bridesmaids dress... LOTS cheaper than any coloured wedding dress I\'ve seen!!!

Hi
My wedding is pretty different, not sure if you\'d agree that it\'s funky though....
The day starts at 4am with everyone who wants to joining us at Ivinghoe Beacon (highest point in Hertfordshire!!!)to see the sunrise we will be having tea/coffee and Danish pastries and people will have the chance to sign our guest book.
We are then going home for showers etc.
At 830am the first guests will arrive for the wedding breakfast, we are having just closest family (about 26) for this and we will be having a 3 course breakfast meal (probably fruit salad, followed by cooked breakfast (bacon&eggs) and then crepes for pudding)
The ceremony is at 2pm and then we will have an afternoon tea from 4-6 to include cutting the cake.
No evening reception because we will all be too tired after the beacon trip!!!!

Sory to be so late in replying - couldn't get on to the new pages for a while!
Yes, I have heard it!!! I really wanted to have that version, but H2B is not as much of a rock-chick as I am (or should the male version be 'rock rooster'?) and wouldn't let me. I then found the Nina Simone version and I really like that as it is pretty chilled and atmospheric and is good in other ways!
In reply to the Helicopter post, WOW! My sister had a helicopter, and she said it was brilliant, as it was such an amazing experience! (She had to have the earmufflers on upside down, though, and get out once the blades had stopped, due to BIG HAIR!
In reply to the 4:30 am wedding...WOW WOW WOW! I really admire someone who can make such a sacrifice for their H2B! Mind you, we will all be up at that time anyway at ours, as we will be too excited to sleep. fantastic idea doing it differently!
Martha xx
